Hi Creators,

Thank you for making IMVU such an amazing place for our entire user community. We realize this has been a tough year for everyone and greatly appreciate your continued dedication, talent, and passion for creating on IMVU.

As you likely have seen, record inflation, high gas prices, and general economic concerns are leaving people cautious about their discretionary spending. The strong US dollar has made Credits less affordable in most countries. Users are also stepping away from their computers after being in lock-down for two years. Both Netflix and Facebook (Meta) saw user declines for the first time in their lengthy company histories. IMVU, like the entire tech industry, has been facing challenges.

That said, we are confident that we can weather this storm, and in the meantime, we are busy creating opportunities for you, our Creators.

Our December Winter Wonderland Quest helped increase user engagement and catalog purchases. More quests will be coming soon.

Our scripted products, currently in alpha, will allow users to do even more in IMVU Desktop rooms. Eventually, Creators will be able to make scripted products, and sell them in their catalogs.

In 2023 we’ll build upon the newest type of products Creators can make - non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFT creation will be open to all Creators later this year. This will be a brand new stream of revenue, in addition to regular catalog items. It introduces the notion of scarcity and collections, functionality we’ve heard you’ve wanted for years. Now the technology to make this possible has arrived!

Not only will Creators get paid in VCOIN revenue when users purchase their NFT products, they’ll also receive a cut of the profit every time their NFT items are resold. Being paid in VCOIN means you are not subject to MASA caps on this new income stream.

To date, every NFT item we’ve released has sold out in minutes. This is a huge opportunity and we encourage Creators to take part as soon as the feature launches. More information can be found here: https://help.imvu.com/s/article/Creating-NFT-Exclusives

CREATORS EARNING MONEY - 2022

  • In 2022, Creators were paid $11,519,925, down 16% from 2021
  • Payment in 2022 was 19% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019

CREATOR PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP & ENGAGEMENT

Overall Membership and engagement were down slightly year over year. While the results are disappointing, we’re committed to being transparent about how our shared business is performing. Below are 2022 stats compared to 2021:

  • 11% fewer new Creators signed up for IMVU
  • 8% fewer Creators making products in their first 30 days
  • 11% fewer Creators submitted products on a monthly basis
  • 12% fewer products were submitted to the catalog

For those of you who have remained dedicated to growing your catalogs and investing the time and energy honing your crafts, better results in the future will yield higher returns - there is simply less competition.

Thank you again for your talent, time, and dedication. We will get through this!

I'm not sure if less creators/new items being made means less competition for those that are still at it. I'm getting advised that too many products feels cluttered in our shops, especially if they are all different themes. Also, it looks like most customers don't want to take too much time flipping through one creators shop. The way shop is structured is pretty much out of our control, that's why I meet so many devs who are very picky on what they submit and keep public. They hide so much just for the purpose of not overwhelming potential customers and keeping their appearance organised. I didn't believe in their method until I noticed many +10k item shops fade out of existence, regardless of their high quality and skills.

When I was younger here, I was able to spend 5 hours straight looking through shop. I can't even be bothered to do that now, it's just too exhausting. I don't think this new generation could do that either. Large shops takes too much time with this structure design. I wish we could fix bundles. I'm very interested in an idea another creator proposed earlier, about an extra way to shop, through public rooms. At least this way, creators could have another avenue to select which of their products they feel like putting a spotlight on and promote easily and quickly because it's still a public room (if I understood their idea correctly). Also it would be a 3D spotlight, which is much more advanced than the 2D photo ones we've all been use to. Actually I'm not sure if the items would be displayed in 3d in the rooms or just icon photos to try on to activate the 3d feature, like in shop currently.
