I was looking up references to IMVU on Google, trying to find a good way to promote my products, and *MAN* I found a TON of negative stuff about IMVU. Your company has a MASSIVE negative appearance online. Since I sell PG-rated stuff, it's little wonder my sales have been hurt. Public perception is that IMVU is a den of INEQUITY. Unpleasant freaks are pushing out your average Joe's.

I've been slow-simmering my brain on what might help make IMVU a bit less of a..... horrible toxic mess? (lol) I don't think this is impossible to fix.

Biggest user issue appears when I go looking for a chatroom to talk to others: There's about ZERO organization. I see "Live Rooms", "Top Picks", "Chat Rooms". This says NOTHING about what I'm looking for. It's little wonder people stumble into the dark corners of the internet. All I see are icons and titles, nothing real to go on.

Let's consider a better way....

What if I could search based on meaningful, simple terms to match my tastes?

First and foremost, can we separate rooms based on Age Range? I'm an adult, I don't want to talk to kids. So why can't I control my search based on "Recommended Age"?

Also, I want to some light discussion. I don't want to pop into somebody's room devoted to their angst or the loved ones they lost. Just not in the mood for any heavy discussion. So how about, "Emotional Theme"? (Sad, Lonely, Happy, Relaxed, Party, ect)

And this one is SUPER important. I'm not horny. Can I simply separate out rooms based on my "Love Interest". (from horny to NOT horny)

See, that's 3 simple selections that could help immeasurably in keeping me away from angry children who think I'm a pedo for even USING IMVU. I could have a friendly chat with some upbeat people who aren't looking for emotional support. And avoid the more.... sleeezzzzy... parts of IMVU. (It's cool you are expressing your sexuality, but I'm not in the mood.)

We need meaningful attributes to help narrow down the chatrooms to the experience the user needs. Does that make sense?

LoL, finally, somebody else who bought the "Adult Access" just to hang out with adults! Thank you for restoring some of my faith in humanity! ;)

I guess it was a bit naive on my part to think "Adult" might mean "Grown up". Maybe they can sell different versions of the "Adult" access to just say, "Hang out with Grown ups!? :D

IMVU certainly needs a shot of Wholesomeness to help fight back against it's terribly sleazy reputation online. I couldn't find any videos about IMVU on YouTube that didn't make it look like a den of scum and villainy. That's NOT GOOD.

And I really detest this push into a "Realistic" art style. I always thought it was a bit low-brow, reality-TV, sort of trashy, but it didn't even occur to me it was also pushing the service towards a more PornHub, Sexed-Up, Horny theme. After watching a few videos (mostly trying to defend IMVU) I realized ALOT of this "Realistic" push is.... mostly for Porn. They have been sexing up IMVU.

Little wonder I haven't seen too many robots and ninja's lately. Where are the LARP'ers? I've been advertising on Reddit's IMVU forum, trying to get the word out, and man... most of those avies... thirst-trap sleazy. And these grotesque bodies. WHY does a butt need to be 6 feet around? Even Betty Boop had a limit.

The saddest part is, you do hear from alot of people who do, really, want to just talk to others and make a connection. But they are so SLEAZED UP!

Lonely isn't the same as Horny. You can talk to other people just because it's nice to talk to other people. I get the terrible feeling that young people and the more gullible, actually THINK you need to be sexual for people to talk to you. They seem to truly believe there's nothing else to life but sex.

And because IMVU is, sorta, kinda, pushing Sex-first... well... you can see how people think IMVU is *RUN* by scumbags trying to sexual exploit others. It should be PEOPLE first, and sex... somewhere in the background.

We don't need to talk about what people do privately. It CERTAINLY shouldn't be a main advertising point. Especially not with a service trying to get AWAY from looking like a Pedo-Dating service. And that's what it's getting portrayed as online. That is IMVU's current reputation. THAT IS A PROBLEM!

I like the age range as well. I only visit AP rooms for the sake it's at least more common to have older folks. But with AP comes that side of IMVU. The Room experience needs a lot of work.
