Do unused textures stay in the product folder after submitting a product?
I can not review the scene or submit the product after I delete textures from the product folder. I test some textures before I keep some but I don't think they are automatically deleted after I submit the product. I have to wait until it passes PR to check. Deleting textures from product's folder does not remove the tested textures in the assests area on the left. They are too small to see which ones I was testing to delete them so I open the product folder to delete them.

The team was talking about letting us "multi-delete" files in this manner. I don't know if this is still on the agenda.

Yeah if you delete the files straight from the folder without using the Studio delete button, you're in for a bad time. Studio does not like you doing that. It will mess up the entire project and not even delete the files.
My only advice is to delete them using the Studio interface.
