Example: I'm trying to do some new textures for a whole outfit with several different individual items. To make sure everything lines up well in terms of color, transparency and so on, I would like to have all these items in the same window, rather than working with 5 different projects open in the hope that it might line up well.

Thank you for your response!
However I don't think I was clear enough. I've done texturing a lot in the past so that isn't my issue this time! Thankfully my software of choice has "wrap around modes" now, so removing ugly seams is a piece of cake.
My question was regarding being able to create for several items at the same time but using the same preview window.
For example:
I'm making an outfit consisting of a pair of pants, a shirt, and a cool hairdoo with a beanie. Now I could do this separately, but I would never know what they would look like together unless everything is finished.

I use studio. And I use a checkerbox grid first on meshes without provided textures. If you’re working in photoshop or similar, where layers are possible, make an uneditable top most layer in a horribly bright color with registration marks on a 50% grey base. And drop a 1x1 50% grey pixel in the opacity. This will make the skin transparent so you can mark up your diffusion layer with the skin and get items to look more natural.
on seams, you’re going to put lines that will extend into the other clothing layers.
save and submit the items, but keep
them hidden for now. This will allow you to wear your markup clothing so you can align it properly even with all the tabs.
i make it sound more complicated than it really is, but if you have further questions, my inbox is open

Apologies if it's easy what I'm asking for, googling/searching didn't net any results..
