The new Artificial Rim Modifier feature enables you to apply a blended rim color to any material that simulates backlighting. We're incredibly excited to put this in your hands so you can explore and experiment. Thanks to @Arkdurath (IMVU Staff), our game engine architect for creating this for us!
The new parameters are:
Source
Ambient - Rim light color will be defined by the ambient lighting in the room.
Color - Rim light color is manually selected.
Rim Edge (Start/End) - Defines the blending from rim color to the diffuse color, starting from the edge of the material to the center. This parameter is a bit more complicated, but if you play with the numbers, you'll discover many cool effects! @Drosselmeyer (IMVU Staff) created a nice graphic to help explain it below:
Rim Multiplier - A simple multiplier to fine tune the intensity of the rim effect.
Affect Emission - If turned on, the rim lighting will also bleed into the emission effect
Affect Alpha - If turned on, the rim value will multiply with the alpha value, meaning that the rim color will have alpha transparency.

Seriously a powerful feature. I hope creators take advantage of this!
