Have normal and shiny maps been implemented for room textures? I have used glow in rooms successfully. But maybe because a room's light always moves when you change the angle of the room, the shininess by default can't shine. And I could see no effect of the normal maps when I added them. So I just want to know if it's me or just not implemented.... yet.

Thanks for your response @LestatDeLioncourt . Herein lies the confusion, because I was asking specifically about room textures.
ah yes, I remember getting those rooms. I have no idea where they are. I can't even figure out how to search for imvu stuff because they come from so many different creators.

@Lexique
Lestat, I'm not sure what you mean. I'm actually working with room textures.
1 - So are you meaning to load the texture into something that I can place in the default room?
I guess you could but my references were for anything except rooms. The room controls the light :)
2 - And what do you mean there are two default studio rooms?
About the time Studio came out, there were two rooms introduced. At first, we could create only one of the two. Snapshot above. These work well for furniture and clothing. Shadows and Spot Lights.
Unfortunately these two rooms are locked and can only have one piece of furniture :/

@Lexique the Ambient RGB settings in Classic/Studio, keep those low otherwise it washes out the other effects.

Thank you so much @jazzKat and @LestatDeLioncourt for your experienced and invaluable advice.
jazz, when you say the ambient lighting needs to be kept relatively low, are you meaning the actual physical height of the light? Or in studio put my ambient rgb numbers small enough so that it's more of a darkish color than light? Sorry for my ignorance!

And what do you mean there are two default studio rooms? I guess I'm the only one with the problem that I've never successfully loaded a room into Studio unless it's the one I'm actually devving. Maybe I hold the unfortunate trophy for owning the most rooms ever sigh. Because I've never once been able to load a room into Studio. And the default white room is not always very convenient for devving - white - things lol. But I digress - Drosselmeyer already has my ticket so I'm not opening up this topic here.
However, I do have a slightly off topic but related question..... Are there any decent lighting tutorials out there for taking advantage of the new studio lighting effects? I have read all that I can find but I know I've likely missed some key tutorials. I can say that I'm not too successful getting what I see in Blender to repeat itself in Studio, but I'm pretty inexperienced at Blender as well. I've read that more than one light can start to drag a room. But at least in my circle, people are utilizing rooms less for chatting and more for streaming, the comments on the streamed photos becoming mini chats. Maybe if I keep a room quite low kb, I can get away with some fancier lighting effects. If I use a spot light, it seems that I really need to have an omni light as well if I don't want the room to act like a street at midnight under a lamp. But omni lights are still somewhat directional. I like the effect of keeping an omni light low and to the side. But I don't think I get the same imvu studio benefits as if I use a spot light.

Only to add to what others have said, @Lexique ... If you use one of the two "default" studio rooms, you will see what your product *can* do. This is *if* your customer is using a newer room with "Spot" lighting.
I am still unsure if I want to post a small disclaimer on my products or not. "Works well in rooms with Spot Lighting. Ask your room creator if the room is compatible with newer projects".

Watch out for ambient lighting in rooms as well, using normal maps etc, there *needs* to be at least one actual light in the room, and ambient lighting needs to be kept relatively low otherwise it'll wash out the effect.

Thank you @MightySe7en for your speedy response. That was the problem. I rarely self illuminate, so I didn't think about that being the issue. Much appreciated.

Hi @Lexique , Yes, shiny and normal maps work for rooms. Make sure [ Self-Illuminate ] is turned off, neither will work if it is on. Hopefully the fix is that simple but let me know if it is still not working
