I have been having this problem for quite awhile now. It's been happening on multiple releases of Studio, including the current version. I'm creating, using Studio, using multiple accounts. I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but thought it was worth mentioning. I keep running into the problem of Studio being unable to open, yet I log out of Studio every time I use it (due to the fact I'm running it for multiple accounts). When I look at Task Manager, I discover that I'm running multiple Studios. Once I End Task for all of them, I'm able to once again open Studio. It's quite annoying, so I'm finally taking the time to report it.

I've had this exact same issue a long time ago with Studio, but it eventually went away on it's own after a few weeks.
I was using only 1 account, not multiple though.
Nearly all my issues I've bumped into go away when I stop using Studio too often. It's really like it's a person and they are getting tired lol.

Okay, just so I am clear and can provide a reproducible case to our QA team, the steps you take are:
log out of your account
close Studio
open studio
sign in
work for a bit
repeat steps 1-5
Is this correct?

@Drosselmeyer Yes. I completely sign out of Studio before trying to use it again. Yes, Studio shows that is still running, which is why I can't open it. The only way to fix it so that I can use Studio is by ending the Studio tasks in Task Manager. Once I clear the list in Task Manager, I can open Studio again. This doesn't happen every single time I open Studio. This happens when I've been signing in and out of multiple accounts.

@Goldilocks In your screenshot, those look like subprocesses of Studio which would indicate that Studio is still running. Are you closing Studio between logouts/logins?

@LestatDeLioncourt When you send a "Report a Problem" it sends us two log files 'imvu-studio.log' and 'imvu-studio-last.log'. The 'imvu-studio-last.log' is from the previous session of Studio. If for some reason you cannot launch Studio you can manually send us those logs to '[email protected]'. They are located here: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\imvu-studio

Specifics:
DEFINITION A memory leak is the gradual deterioration of system performance that occurs over time as the result of the fragmentation of a computer's RAM due to poorly designed or programmed applications that fail to free up memory segments when they are no longer needed.
Memory leaks are among the most subtle and hard-to-detect bugs in apps. Memory leaks result from the failure to correctly deallocate memory that was previously allocated. A small memory leak might not be noticed at first, but over time can cause symptoms ranging from poor performance to crashing when the app runs out of memory.

It is not an issue caused by Windows. It is caused by the actually programming not clearing RAM properly when exiting the software.Microsoft has utilities to help find "Memory Leaks" in various software programming languages. It depends on the various programming language as to the technique used to lock down the leaks.
When software is in Beta testing this is not a great concern until the next major release. This is when the programmers commonly lock leaks and continue generating code. It is uncommon in software that has been in generation for many years and when found usually patched in the next release.
If you are curious on the processes for this there is some informative reading available from Microsoft. Search the Microsoft Learning Center for more information. Some is found Here:

@Goldilocks It is normal with many applications is what I was getting at.. not saying it is due to chrome running, just an example… Dropbox, Steam, Slack and many other applications run this way as well. I researched a bit as I was curious and found this is common and is simply how many modern programs are coded. :) The newest windows does sort them better to be less irritating.

@Shore From your screenshot, I'm gathering that Studio never fully logged out and thus, there are multiple Studios running at the same time. It's the same issue I'm reporting, except what browser is being used has nothing to do with Studio being run. They are separate. Neither rely on the other. For the record, I don't have any browsers open when this happens.

no, i'm saying Chrome is an example that does this as well in task manager. i don't think it is a Studio issue, rather how Windows sorts the processes.

I am confused @Shore
Are you saying the IMVU Studio only has the issue when Chrome is open?

Chrome browser does this when you have multiple tabs open, (I always have a ton of tabs open I never close, lol).. Similarly, I notice IMVU Studio always has a minimum of 5 tabs on mine, even when only on the landing screen, with no projects open.

I am sure staff would be interested in this one. Once this happens and you are able to get back into the Studio, immediately go to Help then "Report a Problem". This send information about Studio's last use to Staff.
Also, I would ask here:
Are there log files that can be sent that are from previous sessions or attempted sessions and where or how to send them. Are those included in the "normal" report a problem?
