I just tried to use IMVU Studio, for the first time in months, and it wouldn't open anything. The CPU ran up, the app acted like it ran but wouldn't do anything. Nothing was in the window, just the pull menu bar on top.

I have legacy apps I need to function, and their compatibility with Windows 10 is spotty.

What edition of Win 7 are you using?

Did you try it?

Why would I need a Windows 7 compatibility mode on a Windows 7 machine?

Another member had luck using this trick... Try It.

  1. Right Click the IMVU Studio Icon
  2. Click on the Compatibility Tab
  3. Set Run as Administrator
  4. Set Compatible with Windows 7
  5. Apply & Okay
  6. Start Studio again

In the Meantime while investigation is going on in Engineering :)

I see some Miscrosoft "White Papers" related to this error and Windows 7 Gaming "Engines". They more prominent suggestion there is to take all available Microsoft Updates. Yep, they stopped updating Win 7 a while back but if you are missing some, they will come in. An more suggested there is to update your Graphic GPU Driver. I would take all new hardware drivers.

Maybe we will get lucky and everything will be okay-doky. Worth a try anyway...

@MaxSMoke777 I am sorry to hear you are having such trouble with Studio. It looks like you have access to the 'Help' menu. Can you try doing a 'Report a Problem' from there. It will send us information about what Studio is encountering.

I have uninstalled it, deleted all of it's app data, and updated it... and nothing will make it get past the WebGL Context error.

I did that, which did nothing to stop the issue. I still get the WebGL Context error, and if I click around, I eventually get the grey-screen-of-death. Here's an image of the screen:

As you can see, the top menu works, but nothing ever happens inside of it. I can't even close the window directly. Instead I have to play wack-a-mole in Task Manager, closing the IMVU-Studio threads until one of them finally causes it to go away.

Max, did you uninstall and delete the left-over folders? There are two of them.

One in the AppData folder and one in the Docs folder.

I was able to coax an error message out that might be useful. Sometimes, before it crashes into an endless empty grey window, it said, "WebGL Context Error".

Just to shut it down, I have to go into Task Manager and attempt to close each and every instance. There's often 5 to 8 instances. If I don't close the right one, nothing happens and the instance remains untouched. This is EXTREMELY bad behavior for a Windows program!

Hi @MaxSMoke777 The minimum System Requirements are listed on this page, http://im.vu/help878. I ran the newest version Studio last week on a Windows 7 Pro system last week. More Studio troubleshooting information is located Here:

Thanks
