[Archived - null] I think that IMVU studio needs to allow for more poly count meshes like the old imvu creator tool.

I am limited to 10,600 poly count. Which may seem like a lot to some developers, but as a hair developer it is important that my styles range from 16-20k poly. I am sure I am not the only hair developer suffering from this dilemma. I strive to create top quality hair styles for IMVU but I am unable to provide that same quality due to the polycount restriction. I also do understand however, that too much polycount is not a good thing either. But I have been creating hairstyles for years with 16-20k poly and I have had no complaints.

I really do hope IMVU studio can address this issue because I would like to be able to create styles via IMVU studio.

Thanks

Makes sense. But I do think it will be difficult for me to deliver quality styles. The nature of a hair mesh needs to be realistic in order to create a good quality product. I've always tried to keep my styles as low as I can but its very difficult to. Especially since at this day and age the demand for realistic styles is high. And my goal is to serve my customers and creators.

Unpopular opinion ahead: Classic client (old creator tool) didn't have a physical limit (it was in the education documentation) because CREATORS are supposed to understand their meshes need to be limited and properly optimised for online transport across the network. This 'limit' has never changed, Creators just ignored it so we're now seeing decades of cascading and cumulative performance issues as a result, hair being the biggest culprit - while 10,600 may not seem enough for a single item, given the number of things avatars can wear that soon mounts up... wouldn't be surprised if people have "HD" outfits approaching 1,000,000 polygons. IOW, that 10k limit should be for an entire 'fitted avatar, but that would obviously cause everyone to leave IMVU!
