Incentivized by the 25% MASA increase for working with Studio last month and this month, I gave it a try. I know it's a Beta and there is more work to be done. I also realized that like anything new, it takes time to adjust to it.

As primarily a mesher, many of the new features in Studio don't really add anything for me. Derivers can add Normal, Specular maps, particles themselves so the mesh doesn't need to include those on derivables. Granted the mesher may want to add them and there's no reason not to.

However, what bugs me is what happens to the texture when the Normal map is applied. The texture color gets much lighter. Now this may be the lighting in the room used in the create space, I don't know. But presently there's no way to adjust the lighting or swap out the room used with something else.

A related problem is image quality and color accuracy. Everything in Studio and the new desktop app looks blurred by comparison to the Classic client. The image has a soft focus, compared to the crisp images and accurate colors I am accustomed to in the Classic client.

Another issue is losing the ability to create and dress the creator's avatar and the actors' avatar. We can do that on the fly in Classic, not so in Studio. I'm hoping this will be addressed since it would take us back to the old previewer to try to get cooperative poses to align with a default avatar.

Finally, I think this may be a bug: Setting up animations or poses, the Loop value appears to default to 1 when it should be zero. This causes problems with static poses going into "airplane" position after 1 frame.

I know that updating IMVU to incorporate long overdue features is no small task. But to be honest, I had hoped for better. The UI is not built for speed or efficiency, putting all the options on both sides of the screen can leave some users with very little workspace. I'm concerned about a potential drop off in derivations if creators find working with this new interface an insurmountable hurdle, particularly at the novice/beginner level. But hopefully I'll be proven wrong about that.

I've been using PrvRmDrkC v02 Furniture for creating, as I find the lighting seems more even and it doesn't disrtort things when I bring in normal and shiny.

I also set the reflectivity to 0 for any kinds of fabric/materials that I want no light effect, and go up to 5 if it's just some light reflectivity. I'll go higher when I need actual light reflection.

Still, try that room as your creation space. I've been happy with the results.

I agree the Studio is cumbersome and the layout can use much adjustment to make a good work-flow for meshers or material artists. Most features are in the Studio, just not as easily available as in Create Mode. I am trying to make everything I do in the IMVU Studio as I know the Create Mode will eventually (probably naturally) go away. I want to be in the middle of this new direction and not having to learn everything at the last moments (MS is planning to stop supporting old 32bit software just as Apple OSs have).

The inventory features are are not as readily available as they are in CM but they are there (reference). The Camera, Furniture Move Tools, Assets Tab, etc. all take a little bit getting used as to their location and function. (reference) I believe the engineers are listening and will eventually make changes to the interface layout.

It took me a while to figure out to slide the edge or expand the Assets while looking for unused assets. I am sure I haven't found every "corner" of the Studio, but I thought I would share some information for those who may want it (ref.s above).

I am guessing but maybe they are trying to get everything working with industry standards for the next "10 years" before making everything easy, pretty, etc. I am thinking if this is the interface for IMVU product editing for the next "10 years", we need to give as much input for staff as possible Doing this now makes it easier for them to make changes as things are implemented.

Thank you for the post and helpful input, @Bonkolina
