Running the IMVU Studio software Issues and possible Solutions.

 

Many Creators have different issues with loading or running the IMVU Studio. A "catch all" troubleshooting guide is needed for people to resolve most of the issues with Studio. Below are a few steps to help get things running smoothly for you.

 

This can be quite tedious to fix as the problem could lie in many different places. Anti-virus, Firewall, partial uninstall, default avatar dress-up, heavy KB Projects or assets, etc. etc. Even previous project assets being corrupt or Kb Heavy can cause problems. Lots of things to check.

 

Let's start...

 

Internet Connections:

Test PC's Internet Speed. Compare the results with other devices in your location, to see if they are very similar. I like to use a free website to do this called "SpeedTest.net" or https://speedtest.net Compare the Upload, Download and Ping speed tests between your Internet connected devices (laptops, PCs, Cell Phone App). It is possible one device could be on a Hard-wire with the other Wireless and have a bad connection(s), etc. This can cause this issue and the Speed Test should give good information for troubleshooting. If you have only one device with issue and no other to compare it to, I would recommend the Trace Route test to IMVU Servers in this help article. If you have one working and one not, this is not necessary. The location would have good Server routing to IMVU Servers through the Internet.

 

Run the IMVU Studio with "Administrator Rights":

 

Right Click the Icon for the IMVU Studio, select Properties. Now click the Compatibility Tab. Check Mark select the Run As Administrator near the bottom of the Tab. Press Apply, then Okay. Restart the Studio with this new setting.

 

Complete Studio Uninstall and Reinstall:

 

I know there are two folders left over after the regular uninstall on Windows systems.

One is your Projects Folder. One is Settings, etc. for Studio. Clean out all old Studio folders.

 

  1. Uninstall with the Studio Uninstaller.
  2. Backup & Copy any needed Assets from the Documents/IMVU Studio Projects/CreatorNumber Folders. Then Delete the Folders.
  3. Type %appdata% in Windows Search wait a few seconds and press Enter. Find the IMVU Studio folder.
  4. Click once and press delete on the %appdata%/imvu-studio folder.
  5. Download a fresh copy of the Studio Here: https://create.imvu.com/imvu-studio-beta/

 

Please note. every Step is Important. Completely Delete Both Folders mentioned above. Then reinstall a fresh copy.

 

Antivirus and Firewall:

 

Temporarily disable your Antivirus / Security, if you feel comfortable. Try the IMVU Studio to see if it works. If this proves to help, you will need to make allowances inside your security software to give Internet full access to the IMVU Studio. This process will be different for each Security Software you use. I know AVAST, AVG and ESET has had recent (intermittent) issues from their software release to release. The allowance inside these software is granted differently from security software to another. You may need to Google the "access granting", solution.

 

The Windows Firewall is easy to set and allow Internet Access for the IMVU Studio and walk-through are easily found many places via Google. If you have an aftermarket Firewall of some kind, you will need to search how to do this again, in Google or some other search engine(s).

 

Warning: Temporarily disabling the Security Software or Firewall (or both) is a quick easy way to check if this is the problem. Do not continue to run your PC without some type of protection. Find another solution if this is the cause.

 

Default Avatar Outfit and Room Kb Weight:

 

Set your avatar's default outfit to something very Kb Friendly. Something very lightweight. You could even set the avatar to an empty male or female avatar wearing nothing but your GA Avatar. Do this in the Classic Client (or the new Desktop), then open Studio on the PC with issue.

 

Also, the Default Room you have set in the Studio may have effect on this. The complete uninstall and removal of all hidden folders as listed above should set the default Studio Room back to the Low KB White Room. Check this on a Studio working PC, Laptop, etc. The preference for default room in IMVU Studio is listed in the Menu under File > Preferences > Default Room.

 

If you change this Default Room and then the next time you open Studio the problem begins again, you will need to do the complete uninstall, reinstall again. If you change Avatar Outfits and issues begin, don't use that default Room or "Avatar Outfit (whichever the cause).

@Goldilocks​  had an issue with the latest release. It was dealing with the Video Settings. The camera was giving her saved Black Snapshots. She changed the settings in the Studio Preferences dealing with the Video Display and found a combination that works for her. Depending on your Processor, Operating System, GPU or Video Adapter, etc. some of these custom settings may help or even enhance your Studio experience.

 

For other issues; such as, not loading, constant "loading spinning wheel", white screen, black screen, crashes, etc. this may be worth checking out.

 

  • Click on File then Preferences inside the Studio.
  • Change a setting one at a time. Restart the Studio and try again.
  • There are 3 settings to adjust Video Display at this time.

 

VideoIt should be noted there are more settings in the Preferences that may be adjusted. These deal with how products are "refreshed" over the Internet and back to your connection. Seeing instant "Help" descriptions, and much more! Don't like the White Room in Studio, change it to a "Light" KB friendly room for default. More More & More!

Hey @BloodyHanna​ Sorry none of this helped. I see staff posted in your original post. I would stay with that one to see if they need or have any information. Sending the error reports do help the Engineers a lot, if there area any to send...

so sadly i still have the same problem i wrote in there:

what i tried 2 and more time is

Complete Studio Uninstall and Reinstall

with Admin runs

 

i cleaned everything didn't even backuped because i was worried there might be an old file thats broken. Deleted / roaming, and/ local IMVU- studio folder just to be sure , looked for files in disks , so only things left where blender tools.

 

downloaded a new exe. and it still the same story , i don't know what it is, is it probably my system ? but the fbx exporter just .. old version still works fine , exept that if i close the studio it updates automatically to 12. and i have to do the same reinstall install again. Please if you have any ideas what i might change and try, i can try again.
