For a few days now I have been having trouble with studio. On multiple products.. I load a product into studio like usual and go to change a texture.... It will change in the texture window but will not change on the product itself. No matter what I try the texture will not change. I can not change anything on that texture at all. Not Shine nor normal maps either. I have changed it to multiple names and nothing... So I load it into trusty ole client. The Textures can be changed there but when I load it back into studio to give it some shine the shine still will not appear on that individual texture. This has happened now in 4 products .. I have Halloween showcase that Iam working on and can not have this holding me up.. Does anyone know what's going on here?

I guess a test of two mesh in one product with both using the same material, also.
Anyone test this yet?

Thank you @electrikcat for the help and feedback. I think the workaround will be helpful in the meantime. I am not sure but I think the Studio is getting confused by two .XRF Files with the same material. This is not an issue with Create Mode. Maybe our Programming Engineers can compensate for this in future releases.

@LestatDeLioncourt , @Drosselmeyer , @QBL Hi everyone, I'm sorry to see creators having problems with deriving from my meshes, but im verry hopefully that everything will be ok . ☺️
I've tried to derive from the mesh and can give some hints on.
1. For the Client - in the Debug section Replace the specific .XRF file (in this case (Material ID37 or ID39))
Example: from chkn_xrf_9d378c0b2df56590c4c318561384d3ac.xrf to chkn_xrf_9d378c0b2df56590c4c318561384d3ac123.xrf
Save the project and open it in IMVU Studio. It will work perfectly.
2. For Studio - for the ID37 material in Asset simply select [ select ] and add your texture (Studio will creat a new .XRF file for the new texture), if you re-select [ select ] from the menu it will restore the old texture.
* Suggestion :
In Mesh Section Studio - Create New Mesh Slot for 5,6,7 Body Parts, these parts will be duplicated in the Info section for Body Parts. From my experience this will avoid, for now, having missing body parts in Studio.

It may be a good idea (if the mesher messages back) to let them know. There may be something they are doing or an issue in the mesh(es) of which they are not aware.
I have had a few times where people let me know issues with mesh I make and either fixed them or made new ones that didn't have issue. I guess what I am trying to say is possibly the mesher would be grateful for the feedback. I was :)

@LestatDeLioncourt & @Drosselmeyer TY for all the help with this there is actually another product by the same creator exhibiting the same behavior. But at least now I know what to do to fix it .. or at least backdoor it into working.. At least we know this is a thing now. in case it comes up. Ty my Friends..

Hmm. Looking deeper. It seems that there may be something broken with this product that was masked by the behavior in Classic Client. It seems that when I change just the texture in material ID 37 in Studio nothing happens. This may be a separate issue.

Hmm. I think I understand what is going on here. Not "why", but "what" :D
I derived from 31063791 in Classic Creator and noticed that materials (ID 37 and ID 39) are assigned the same texture and when you change that texture it updates in both materials even though they have unique XRF files. This seems like what most people coming from Classic Creator are expecting to happen. What I have never understood is if I wanted to assign a unique texture to each material how would I accomplish this in Classic Creator? Is it even possible?
Studio obeys the fact that they are two separate materials and you can change them independently of another (what I would expect). As both @LestatDeLioncourt and @xAidenSteelx have pointed out, there are two ways to make Studio behave like Client in this situation:
Change the submeshes to both point to the same material ID
Change the materials asset to point to the same XRF
I have noticed though that the latter totally breaks everything :( and you end up with white (no material). It can be "fixed" by saving the project, closing it, reopening it, and then changing the texture in either material again. This seems to clear the white displayed in the 3d view, but the swatches don't update properly.
I am going to write this up as a bug, but I think that the behavior that happens in Classic Client is not what we want to carry forward and we need a way to communicate to users in Studio that even though the textures of two materials are the same the materials are separate.

I don't think it should be that way. You had to change the XRF File Name in the Drop Down to the same as the other one?
As in... " If I change the .XRF File for Material #37 to be the same as #39 the mesh works properly."
I bet @Drosselmeyer wil be interested in this one.

It seems the product is using the samematerial with twodifferent .XRF Files.
May this be the issue in Studio ???

Hey All, We are tracking this textures not updating issue and one thing that has worked in some cases is turning of 'Optimize Previews' in the 'Preferences'. I am curious if this makes the issue go away.

I was having a similar issue I think? For me it seems it was fixed by changing the file name. Like if I try to change rightSleeveTexture with rightSleeveTexture there would be no change but if I do rightSleeveTexure2 it works. Not sure if this is the same issue though.

Maybe if I would have taught myself to mesh over the years I would know a little more. So for now I guess I will just wait for IMVU to pull through and fix this problem.... But then again my copy and paste tools still wont work in studio either and Iam still waiting on that to magically fix.. LOL

Hi @QBL I have had this, too. It happens for the past 2 releases. I am not sure what is going on. It is like the Studio gets confused, looses it' place and refuses to change the materials. Similarly, I have an issue with changing inventory items.
The only work around I found for either of these two issues is to save, close, reopen the studio and it works again for a while.
Sorry you have these issues, too. ;/
