Aside from no sales, there's absolutely very little originality anymore. In scouring the catty, yet again, I see nothing but a flux of repeat meshes, repeat no change products and to top it off...not even the creators own icon? What has happened to this place? Isn't that considered stealing? Blatant, outright stealing? If you can't "create" even an icon then you just shouldn't call yourself a creator. I mean, even I can create an icon that may say coming soon or something, but would never take a creators original icon. How desperate are you people?

There is NO motivation to create anymore.
If I can derive from something, make 0 changes and get a couple cents instead of working 18 hours on a mesh for that same few cents, then why the hell would I choose the latter?
There doesn't seem to be money here anymore, you can't stay at the top without being an absolute machine and plopping out products like a robot. Even then, those who do are complaining about little income.. so now what?
I used to be angry at 0 change derives too, or people deriving from a product, slapping on a 5 minute texture with a fat DERIVE FROM ME HTML description for their 5 minutes work, but you know what? Go for it. Werk. Get that $0.04 cents girl.
Oh plus the fact that I have literally 100s of stolen products ripped straight out my store and being sold for profit. No I won't upload an 100% original mesh to see it in somebody else's store, AND make more profit than me with their boosting.
Honestly the community isn't to blame here, what you are seeing is an overall lack of motivation and no validation of their work. Direct that anger towards those who have made your view of the community a reality. Or just don't, because nobody will listen anyway.
My honest take on originality - do it for a feature, at least earn $100 from that original upload you did and come back in 3 months. That's all I'll be doing now anyway.
