So, my product concept is an eye gloss that's actually shiny. And then it turns out like the image below. I've cranked the reflectivity to 50 for the sake of showing off the issue, but it's still visible even as low as 10, but by that point there's barely any shine.
Things I've tried/am trying:
Switching to Alpha: Looks bad.
Adjusting the contrast on the shine map so there's less gradient: Doesn't work.
Toggling "prevent reflection" in the advanced settings: No meaningful difference from what I can see.
This item would look so cool if it worked properly, but shine seems to bunk it up and I don't know if it's fixable.

https://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=43719796 Is what I was deriving from. As for the product pictured, I didn't publish it because I didn't find a solution I was happy with, and never saved it. I don't even think I have the old materials for it because I never published it, and I made the original post over 3 weeks ago.

Hi @ch0ux !,
Arkdurath here from the Northstar engine team.
Can you please provide a PID for that product so we can investigate ?
The way "prevent reflection" flag works is by avoiding fresnel property on pixels that have alpha=0, other pixels that have alpha value other than 0 will be affected as normal.
But if you can provide the PID, I would like to investigate which are the materials/textures and the data that end up in that final effect.
Thanks for your help and time :D

It seems to be an inherent issue with the shininess and alpha maps. Even with full black they still seem to have a bit of a "ghost" border. Your best bet is so try to find somewhere the border can be hidden but sometimes that just can not seem to be possible.

I’ve tried to make similar products using studio like a actual shiny lipgloss and the same thing happens. I’m not sure how to fix it either so I gave up :’(
