[Archived - AimeeThomas] How do I change a lipcolor for an item I derive when I can't find the texture or the map that shows me where to place the lipcolor? There are so many items in the catalog that have no information about the textures.

Then I find this: "NOTICE: Do NOT Steal or Extract any textures or product pictures. All textures are watermarked and DMCA action will be taken." Then there are images on the page, but so many have "Image Not Found." This is so confusing and no help at all. Then if I try to go to the item that something was derived from, it is hidden and not available. How do I learn how to create when nothing is helpful? I have watched tutorials and they make sense, but where do I find texture maps that show me where to place colors?

Thank you for suggesting the UV Checker Map tool. That will be very useful.

Yes, ma'am. I flagged it for a mod to check as it is not really a "Free" asset is is merely a tool that any texture artist should have...

Hey, @AimeeThomas  You may also find a Guide / Grid handy. It is a Color / Number Chart that helps you locate an area on a Material when applied.

This is for informational testing use. It is not a file you would place in a project and submit.

I hope this helps

I use GIMP for other pictures not on IMVU. But most of what I am finding for IMVU creating it seems there are so many assumptions are made and not every step is explained well.

Thank you for your help.

M02 - is the uv map to draw the head skin

MO3 - is the uv map for you to draw lips

MO4 - is the uv map for you to draw eyes

To draw them, you need to have knowledge of image editing, like gimp which is free.

You can search for lips on the internet, for example, looking at it, you have a model image to draw the lips of the head that you derived.

If you need more help, request my friendship and send me a message.

ilyx, thank you for commenting.

I tried deriving from this 58282940, which was derived from this one, 58256205, which is derived from this one 54361440, which is derived from this one 48926927, none of these had any information and all of which were derived from this 48770393 which has MASK UVW MAPS: M02 | MO3 | MO4 | LASH TEMPLATE.

How do I find information that explains how to use these "masks"?

The ideal is to texture products which you can get the uv and ao maps and for them, contact the product creator and request maps. What product id are you trying to change lip color?

@AimeeThomas It is hard for anyone in PUblic to help as they would have to derive your product to see the issue. This is why it is best to contact the person you are deriving from as they have all the knowledge of the product.

Also, I suggest people support creators who answer messages and give help on their products. This is very important.

A copy of the picture in the block? I'm sorry, I don't know what that means. Which picture in which block?

Hi @AimeeThomas First, make sure you are deriving from the top-most parent. Many times people place theirs as Derivable and they place no Material Maps of any kind. Once you find the product you want, look at what it was Derived From. This step may be needed again and agin until you find the true derive parent.

If you still do not see the Material Maps, ask the Creator of the derivable product for support. They may have forgotten to make them available or old photos may have diminished from the Internet, etc. This is always your best source of support, from the original mesher.

I hope this helps...
