Hi, I decided to have two different meshes in the same fbx to import into studio. I wanted it to have the same material (later changed my mind so this question is moot for my current project), but is there any reason why I should not use one material slot for multiple meshes in the same product? It doesn't seem to be an issue for Blender, but I noticed that when I imported it, that the name of the material changed, to "[0] [0]", and it didn't use the actual image that I expected it to. However, indeed it still only had one material slot for two meshes and when i updated the material, it all updated as I expected it to. But because the import was a bit clumsy, I am worried that IMVU doesn't love it so much if I have multiple meshes using the same texture and I don't want to cause problems later.

Technically Next can use both, single material assigned to two meshes, or two instances of the same material assigned to individual meshes. The fact that you got a rewrite of the material suggests something iffy occurred during import and Studio made the existing or incoming material unique to prevent issues. Not sure there's a way to prevent that duplication without double-checking material assignments are set up correctly - don't forget to remove unused material slots from meshes.
