Hi, I've downloaded the imvu studio desktop app, and installed and enabled the imvu studio toolkit on blender. My question is how does one go about modifying the mesh of derivable products such as shortening a skirt? I've tried looking up youtube videos but my search results bring up creating meshes from scratch rather than editing a pre-existing mesh of a product. Is this possible or am I misunderstanding?.

For example, I understand that Miniskirt 01 by zxta is derived from FMB Pleat Skirt by RoyMeshes, but what was the process from point A to B?

Should have just shorten the response to: "You don't"

You can't alter somebody else's mesh. You can cut it up with an Opacity mask, which just makes parts of it invisible.

It was done by adding an opacity as Lestat mentioned so you can get e similar length without having to edit the mesh directly. If you get confused I can try to help :)

Hi @DorianMalfoy This process is "Deriving" an existing product rather than creating a new one from scratch (eg: Blender). Blender is used to make things that do not exist in the IMVU Catalog from "scratch". Deriving from an existing product to make a "similar" product is done in the IMVU Studio with adding, changing Texture Materials.

Contacting the Mesher of a product is the best support for Deriving products. As in this case, you could contact @Roy for support deriving one of his Meshes to create a new product with Material Texture additions. A hint would be to consider learning about adding Opacity Materials in deriving an existing mesh.
