This bothers me so much and is one of the reasons why I've stayed away from ambient rooms for so many years.
I understand that meshing is such a long journey to learn and that most will dip their toe in and learn along the way, to help them practice and not forget, and build confidence and comfort. So I expect a lot of mistakes and improvements. But unfortunately, this is what customers have to deal with, and most meshers are not at that point where they know how to return to an older mesh to fix it without interfering with the texture maps already made for their derives. So they normally just abandon their older projects and expect everyone to just restart on their new upgraded items. That's not really fair for customers who fall in love with previous works that are still available in shop today.

Most meshers eventually learn but so far they haven't been fixing their older meshes, just uploading new ones, which unfortunately has been leaving many who've derived their old ones... stuck. Most creators don't want to redo/re-upload new items. It's really honestly better if we could find a way to fix the ones already submitted.

I tried to Scale these ears and that is not working at all. Not even like x 2, etc :(
I did the ModelModifier, ModelMeshScaleRec, NodeName, etc. etc. and no effect.
I did it "fresh" twice to make sure I didn't mistype, etc. Weird...

I never inverse mesh as it is not standard. I have mirrored mesh (ex: shoes). Weird anomaly. I would ask the creator to make a new version of the same / similar mesh :o/

Ok. Maybe staff can test this since they have access to our meshes. Or maybe someone can test this with their own older meshes that has this issue in the photos.

Well, like I said, I'm not 100% sure it would fix this issue but it might. If it has the scaling info in debug, just set it to a negative 1.

@LestatDeLioncourt It worked without having to redo the texture map? or you talking about while making a new item?

I think the mirror button in Max used to make the meshes inside out and that's how a lot of meshers learned to do it. I'm not quite sure if this is relevant or not but there was an old post by Dimitri once saying how you could scale meshes by a negative value. But the mesher would have to have included that in the product. I forget if this would actually flip them back the right way or not since I never did use it myself.

@DiamondBones Wow. This is a weird one. I have never seen this issue before. I have seen both of the other things mentioned (self-illuminate and "inside-out"), but in the case of inside out (or more specifically reversed mesh normals) the mesh looks inside out as well, not just the lighting. I would have to look into what is wrong with this product. It is too bad, because they are otherwise really cool ears.

@LestatDeLioncourt I've heard of this "inside-out" issue before lol it's actually quite a popular problem! Folks tell me they can't fix it without restarting because they'd have to reconnect the texture map again, which may not be in identical positions after since it's done manually by hand? I dunno lol

@LestatDeLioncourt I wish when flagged, staff could put the mesh on hold until the creator fixes it, so no more new faulty derives, and staff would have an idea of what tutorials to make to help meshers out! It's better than waiting for shy introverts to come ask lol
one thing that worries me is that... staff tends to gift us items made from faulty meshes lol (even when they're newly made!) So I'm thinking that such small flaws aren't concerning enough for them to want to remove and favor others that are actually properly made. I still think they should because that would motivate meshers to use their skills because they'll see that it matters. Most of them are amazing, they just don't think it makes a difference when they notice that the standards accept it.

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a way to Flag Bad Mesh in the catalog. there is so many broken mesh in the catalog that cannot be fixed. Rooms, accessories, etc.
Flag for Staff review and then (if staff agrees) hide from the catalog would be great.

This issue should be able to fix my the Deriving person. It appears there is "Self-illumination" turned on, on the front side of the ears. Some derivers do this to prevent shadows. I see a lot of derived Hair that does this too... :/
