Hi there,

I seem to have forgotten how to export an amimation that includes the action of lets say moving one body part of the avatar only.

In the creator center they tell you to select the bones that you want to export and deselect the other ones.

I am using 3ds max 2017 and the only way that I am able to export the animation is by selecting all the bones, otherwise Max will crash.

Is there any way yo export the mesh and the animation related to it, do I need to do it with FBX?

Thanks

Hi @TStone , Currently the 3DSMax toolkit does not support exporting animations. We are actively working on adding this functionality, but it may take a few weeks to implement into the toolkit. Once it is in the toolkit however, animations must be made with the toolkit in order to be exported with it.

As for your issue installing it, if you are able to elaborate what the issue is, I can certainly try to assist in getting the rest of it to work if you would like.

Hmm. The Toolkit "should" work with 2017. We developed it using 2017, so if you have more information on why it is not working, please let us know. I am pinging @MightySe7en. He has been primary person developing the Toolkit

Hi there,

thank you so much for the clarification with this issue. I will definettly give it a go with the fbx exporter, unfortunatelly the imvu toolkit is not working with my max 2017.

Will try it further along again.

Thanks

@TStone We are aware that there is a crash in the export of animation using the Cal3d 3ds Max exporter. Unfortunately we no longer support the Cal3d exporters. You can accomplish the export of animation using FBX export. The Studio Toolkit has an export tool, but it requires some set up using the other tools such as the Animation Tool. Here is the Creator Education Center page on Studio Toolkit

Hi @TStone I am only suggesting things that may help find where the problem lies. You do not have to use another PC it would only be as a test to see if your PC contains something eating u p resources or cannot handle the task. The new toolkit is available and isn't required.

I don´t understand what you mean by another pc, I don´t understand why I should have another pc and what resources you mean.

Max is not crashing on a regular use only when I try to export selecting the single bones, the same way I have in the past.

I am not sure why the existance of a new toolkit would interfere with the way that I have done it before, unless something has change in the past months which I have been away.

Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide.

Hi @TStone I do not know why Max is crashing. Can you install it on a PC with more available resources? You should be able to select which bones to export.

Also, you may find the new 3ds Max Toolkit of good use. Check this post here: https://help.imvu.com/s/question/0D54p00002VEs1qCAD/

Hope this helps.
