We got a great upgrade with Studio - bigger texture sizes. With the newest update we now have 5 slots total that we upload textures in. One 512x512px .jpg is around 200 Kbs. The upload limit to a clothing item is 2MBs. So I only need to upload 10 textures to run out of those precious kbs. And that's really easy if my mesh has more than a few materials assigned, and I want to apply shininess, normal and opacity maps to all of them. That leaves no room for the mesh! It's becoming really limiting, cause I have to upload my mesh and derive from it again if I want to apply normal and shininess maps. And we are really being encouraged to use these!
That slows down the whole process, cause now I have to wait for PR 2 times! What's the point of all of these new features if we don't have enough space to use them! Even if I make meshes super low poly, the biggest consumers of space at this point are textures. Please please please, considering increasing the size limit!!

I have found in Studio, if i try all three sizes, I find one that looks great and is lower kb. It is a personal choice...

Thank you for your answer. That is true if using Classic and it's best to resize the textures yourself. But from we've been told, Imvu Studio doesn't resize anymore, so we get double texture size. It uses the full 512x512. And that's very visible when you compare the same product in Next and then classic.
But with the double sized textures, their kbs doubled as well, while the upload limit remains the same. Plus we got 2 extra textures slots for each assigned material - normal and shininess. So basically, the texture size in total grew 6 times (if you use normal + shininess too). But the kb limit remains the same.

Hi @MissC I have seen other posts were Staff are considering this for some types of items.
Oh, one tip I found some years ago... The upload system grabs the 512x512 and resizes it to one of two sizes. It will resize to 256x512 or 512x256 (?randomly?).
The most interesting part is if you resize to either of those two (from the 512x512) and make the best choice, the upload optimize system will leave them alone. If you resize these larger ones into one of the 256x512 or 512x256 then you file size for upload will be much less (probably more than double).
You may want to read more on this type of optimization in the Creator Center, Power of Two and another post listed. See the Best Answer in This Post here.
I hope this helps..
