What version of Max are you using? To export to XMF, XSF, etc. you need the proper exporter, but most newer versions of Max do *not* have an exporter. Your only option might be FBX.

If you need to export animation to an accessory or bones animation without the need for fbx. you need to install the required imvu plugin that is made for 3dsmax. first, choose the root node of your accessory or the top of your bone structure as skeleton .xsf, then, the follow that with animation export .xaf.

Can you downgrade with the license you own to 2016? If not, I know the team is working on an updated exporter. Watch for the new IMVU Studio Tool Kit coming soon, here: https://create.imvu.com/articles/studio/toolkit/

What is it exactly what you are animating, avatar accesory, room etc?

I had some issues myself at the begining but downloading the imvu original avatar file helped fix it.

Hi there,

to export the animation you will need to use the fbx exporter that is integrated in 3Ds Max.

Select the mesh and root/bone you want to export, then on the menu choose export selected and save as fbx.

You will get a fbx file that you can import into the client which will include all the files.

i think it might be because the 3ds program is 2022 but the files are 2016. is there a way i can still export the animated product as an xmf file?
