Yes, thumb drives are cheap now. And they are a lot less expensive than trying to remake artwork from scratch! LOL

@KyraLeeDoll

I have a 2TB external hard drive with every single texture/mesh I've ever made... and that's quite a lot lol. (minus any that were lost, I've gone through about 6 usb's) and a onedrive account somewhere with more, it's a little lost but I know it exists if I ever need it

Better to be safe than sorry!

Hi @KyraLeeDoll It is all a personal preference. Many keep them to possibly use on other projects or in case a product become corrupt and needs to be repaired. You can always get copies of your submitted work by opening your product for edit and copying out the assets. This would be true if you have full access to your account.

I keep backups with artwork "steps" in case I ever need them for any reason. But - I keep some on my local workstation PC and most on a server. This is something people don't necessarily need but the same logic can be applied to keeping backup files on Flash Dives, DVDs, Etc. any media can be used to archive unneeded texture materials or other assets.

I know some who keep more than one copy or their flash drive backups and this is highly recommended in case one gets corrupt and the need for the files come about. I have backup copies of my backup, too. LOL

I hope this helps...
