Hey everyone. I wanted to start making my own clothes for IMVU but I am confused where to begin. What apps do you use? Any suggestions. I am totally new here.

Hi @ To begin creating on IMVU, you'll need to join the Creator Program. This program allows you to design and share your own IMVU products like clothes, accessories, rooms, and furniture.

Here's how to become an IMVU Creator:

Download and Install the IMVU Desktop App: You'll need the desktop application to access the Creator tools: https://create.imvu.com/articles/classic/the-creator-program-and-the-create-mode/

Download IMVU Studio https://create.imvu.com/imvu-studio-download/

Get a VIP membership: New Creators are required to have either a VIP Platinum, Diamond, or Emerald membership to submit products to the IMVU Catalog.

Join the Creator Program: Sign up for the program to gain access to the creation tools. You'll need to read and accept the Creator Agreement and Policy.

Once you've joined the Creator Program:

Access Create Mode: Open the IMVU Desktop App, log in, and click the "Create" button on your main page. You may need to use the navigation arrows to find it.

Navigate the Creator Dashboard: This is your central hub for creating, featuring information about your creator progress, news, and resources.

Derive a New Product: This is how you'll start creating. You'll choose an existing product as a base and modify it to make your own.

Open a Local Project: If you have projects in progress, you can open and continue working on them.

Edit a Product: You can edit products you've already created and submitted to the shop.

Explore Creator Resources: The dashboard provides links to helpful resources like tutorials, the Creator Education Center, and community forums.

Utilize the Editor: This is where you'll make changes to your products.

Deriving Products: When you derive a new product, you'll select a base product from the catalog to work from.

Customize with Textures: You can change textures, colors, and add your own graphics to personalize your creations.

Apply Changes: After making modifications, click "Apply Changes" to see them reflected in the 3D window.

Save As: Save your work with a unique name to easily find it later.

Upload and Publish: Once you're ready, upload your product to the IMVU Catalog, adding details like product name, description, and price.

Peer Review: Products go through a Peer Review process to ensure they meet quality and policy standards before being available in the catalog.

Important Notes:

Creator Education Center: This resource provides a wealth of tutorials and guides for creating on IMVU.

Virtual Goods Policy: Make sure to read and understand the guidelines for acceptable content to ensure your creations can be in the catalog.

Deriving Products: Deriving from existing products means that the original Creator also earns a portion of the sale when you sell your derived product.

Earn Money: You can earn money by selling your creations in the IMVU Catalog, with options to receive payments through PayPal.

Stay Active: To maintain your Creator Tier level and unlock benefits, it's recommended to consistently add new, high-quality products to your shop.

You can make custom clothes using IMVU Studio. Just pick a base item to “derive” from, edit the textures in Photoshop or GIMP, and upload your design in Studio. It’s easier than it looks once you try! Check out IMVU’s Creator Education Center for tutorials.

For custom clothes in IMVU, most creators start with Blender for 3D modeling and Photoshop or GIMP for texturing. IMVU also has a Creator Program with tutorials that walk you through the basics. If you’re new, check out some beginner guides on YouTube to get familiar with the workflow.
