I'm encountering an error message that reads, "There was a network problem getting the avatar info," every time I launch the classic client on both my PC and laptop. As a result, I can't access dress-up, rooms, messages, or any other features. I've tried troubleshooting extensively: clearing the cache, switching routers, disabling the firewall, and reinstalling the client multiple times, even downloading the classic client on my laptop but nothing has resolved the issue. To test further, I created a completely new account with fresh credentials, only to receive the exact same error. This suggests the problem isn't related to my account or hardware. I've submitted a support ticket but I thought i'd create a topic too as I wait for a response. Any guidance or assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I forgot to add that both IMVU Next and IMVU Desktop are working without any issues. The problem appears to be with the classic client.
Thank you.

My IMVU Classic is working as intended but last week I did encounter those exact same symptoms.
I also did the same troubleshooting procedures but went a few steps further. It was first after I also downloaded and installed the latest windows 10 update and restarted my PC and router that everything was working as intended.
I advise you update your PC and after installing the latest updates and drivers shut the power off and waiting a few minuts before restarting it. Maybe also reset and restart the router.
If this still doesn't help then try to completely uninstall IMVU, even the "hidden" files. Then upload and install one of the previous versions of IMVU Classic like version 549 or 550.
A good tip is never install the latest version of IMVU on the day a update comes out. Wait until after others have posted feedback and you have read it. I usually wait at least 2 to 3 weeks because often those updates have glitches.
There is one other thing that can be done but it is a last resort and should only be used if there is major problems with your PC that affects more than just IMVU. A recovery reset of the PC. This basically resets the computer to it's original settings when it was purchased. Always back up important files on an external hard drive before taking such drastic actions because the hard disk of the computer gets wiped clean.

Thank you for your reply, Petrazenka.
My PC and drivers are up to date. I've also deleted any hidden IMVU files I could find and downloaded an older version of IMVU Classic (update 551.0) from their website, but the issue persists. I cannot find updates 549 or 550, could you provide links if available? I'm certain it's not my PC, as I encounter the same issue on my laptop.
Thanks!

When one downloads IMVU one is actually downloading a zip file folder that upon download completion allows IMVU to be installed. Since this folder isn't an actual IMVU file it will not be removed when clicking the uninstall IMVU button found in Settings / Apps / Apps & Features. This means your PC will most likely already contain several installer folders. Mine are stored in my documents, the path is shown in the 4th picture below.
Just pick one of your previously stored IMVU installers. Click on it to install that version.

Thank you, Petrazenka.
I found some older versions of the Classic IMVU client installer. One of them indicated that IMVU no longer supports it and prompted me to update. I tried installing the others, and now I receive this error message:
Have you tried to remove the firewalls permissions for IMVU and then restarting PC and then granting access permission back again?
There might also be additional firewalls in your security / anti virus programs that need to be reset for each version of Classic IMVU.
Remember to restart PC each time a setting is changed.
A network issue and try again later.
Maybe it's an actual network issue between you and the internet providers used by one of the IMVU server, the one for Classic.
My Windows 10 version IMVU Classic is running smoothly.
I suspect that the troubles are either found on your system or that it's actually a network issue since some of the folk I have been hanging out with also use IMVU Classic and are not having issues like you currently are.
Be glad that the IMVU servers for NEXT and Mobile are working for you.
I have tried to help but I don't feel I am getting anything for it. If you want more help then please make it worth my time.

Thank you for your help, Petrazenka, I greatly appreciate it, as I'm feeling quite lost with this issue. I can tell you've put real time and effort into helping me. Thank you! :)
I did turn off my anti-virus firewall completely and retried IMVU, but I still got the same error. I was afraid this might be related to the firewall or port forwarding because I know nothing about those and find them hard to understand. I'd need to follow a guide of some sort in order to attempt firewall permissions or port forwarding. I wonder if a system restore would help, however as I have mentioned IMVU classic has the same issue on my laptop too, so that rules out my PC being the issue.
Thanks so much for helping. Sorry I can't provide much else, i find this all confusing.

With the help of AI, i tried Port Forwarding. I tried these virtual servers individually but I still get the problem. Can anyone tell me if I am even doing this correctly? What ports does IMVU Classic use? and what Protocol, TCP? I'll attached the photo of my virtual servers I created below:
Woo-hoo! I think I have solved it, using a VPN lets me back into the IMVU Classic client. So yeah, IMVU must have flagged my IP address by mistake. I'm still waiting for a response to the ticket that I submitted to support, I'll paste my IP address and ask them to unblock it when I am contacted. :)

Hi PatSmith, try Proton VPN, it's free. I found that changing your IP address bypassed the network error. You can also submit a ticket at the top of this page and ask support to unlist/unblock your IP address. I'm still waiting for a response from them myself. I'll use the VPN in the mean time until they fix the problem.
