Ideas to increase satisfaction from the IMVU community

Dear IMVU Support Team,

I’m writing to share a structured proposal that would both improve Creator satisfaction and increase IMVU’s overall revenue potential. The current platform policies make it frustrating and disappointing to be a paying Creator, and many of us feel the platform is moving in the wrong direction.

1. Add Real-Money Purchase Options for Creator Items

Proposal:
Add an option for Creators to charge real money for their works — with a price cap to prevent overpricing — while still allowing users to spend with credits. IMVU can take 50% of the money earned from real-money purchases.

Example:
Item: Dress
Credit Cost: 120 Credits
Cash Cost: $9.99
Maximum Price: $20.99
Minimum Price: Free (if you watch an ad)

2. Add a Third Payment Option: “Pay via Ad”

Proposal:
Add a third payment method that allows users to watch an ad in exchange for receiving the item for free. Both IMVU and the Creator would receive ad revenue from this.

How It Works:

  • When a user clicks “Pay via Ad,” they watch a short ad hosted on IMVU’s platform.

  • The Creator of the item receives 50% of the ad revenue, and IMVU keeps the remaining 50%.

  • This is a “pay-per-hosting ad” system — not pay-per-click or pay-per-buy — which ensures consistent earnings.

  • This feature should be available for all user tiers.

3. Enhanced VIP Discounts and Perks

Proposal:
Offer stronger VIP benefits that justify the cost of membership, especially since many users only purchase VIP to become Creators.

Discount Structure (on Real-Money Purchases):

  • Gold VIP: 43% off

  • Platinum VIP: 50% off

  • Diamond VIP: 60% off

  • Emerald VIP: 70% off

Discount Structure (on Credit Purchases):

  • Gold VIP: 70% off

  • Platinum VIP: 75% off

  • Diamond VIP: 80% off

  • Emerald VIP: 90% off

Why:
Creators and VIPs pay real money for this service. We should receive meaningful rewards, free items, or at least substantial discounts in return.

Free Item Benefit by VIP Tier:

  • Gold VIP: 2 items 100% off (free after purchase)

  • Platinum VIP: 3 items 100% off (free after purchase)

  • Diamond VIP: 5 items 100% off (free after purchase)

  • Emerald VIP: 17 items 100% off (optional — user can choose which items to make free)

This allows flexibility: for example, a user can make an expensive item cost zero credits and let another, cheaper item still cost credits.

4. Creator Reimbursement and System Returns

Proposal:
Creators should receive a fair portion of earnings and system-based returns even when users access items for free.

Details:

  • Creators receive about 30% of what is earned from VIP purchases.

  • IMVU can alternatively give each Creator a smaller fixed percentage from each VIP sale.

  • If a person doesn’t pay money (for example, using the “Pay via Ad” method), the system still generates compensation for the Creator — anywhere from 120 to 300 coins, or more.

  • Even when an item is obtained for free, the system should automatically generate the Creator’s payout so their work is always valued.

5. Credit Purchase Incentives

Proposal:
If a user buys credits, they should receive a temporary code that makes their next item purchase 100% off in credits — similar to a coupon.

  • This encourages more credit purchases.

  • When the item is redeemed, the Creator still receives 30% of the item’s normal value in payment.

  • This applies to all items, including rooms, bundles, and avatars.

Why This Helps:
Avatars, rooms, and bundles are often too expensive for most users. By offering a free-item incentive after purchasing credits, IMVU would see higher sales volume and increased user engagement.

Closing

In summary, these changes would:

  • Increase fairness and flexibility for Creators.

  • Provide users with more payment choices.

  • Add real-world revenue streams through ad hosting.

  • Restore value and respect to VIP memberships.

The Creator community is the foundation of IMVU. Right now, many of us feel disrespected, unheard, and tempted to move to platforms like Second Life, where Creators have more control and receive fairer treatment. These proposed updates could rebuild trust, motivate users to spend more, and make IMVU enjoyable again.
