I'm on mobile and it won't let me put on any AP clothing items in my own private chatroom because the room is rated GA... It's private. No one is even in the room with me, I just wanted to record a dance video. I can't add an AP furniture item to this room on mobile or take down one of my fav public rooms just to upload this as AP.
I really like how we cannot put on AP clothing items when we join public GA rooms, that's a great feature! But I'm alone in private man, cut me some slack. Don't wanna jump through hoops, I'm tired and comfy in bed. The whole point of me having mobile is so I can cozy up!

This is due to a strict policy change that has implemented to ensure a clear distinction between General Audience (GA) and Access Pass (AP).
Here are the main reasons why this is no longer permitted on Mobile/Desktop, even in private rooms:
1. Stricter rules from the Apple & Google Stores
IMVU Mobile is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. To remain listed in these app stores as a 13+ app, IMVU must guarantee that GA users (and minors) cannot come into contact with AP/adult content under any circumstances.
2. The room classification (GA vs. AP) determines the rules
IMVU does not just look at who is in the room, but at the room’s label itself:
If a room is set to GA, the app scans all avatars entering the room.
As soon as you are wearing an AP item (such as clothing, a pose, a skin or accessories), the system blocks access to the GA room to prevent a GA user from being accidentally invited or entering.
Nowadays, the rule is simply this: are you wearing AP? Then you can only enter an AP room.
