Hello! @Guest
Since you have already tried redownloading the app and the issue persists, the problem is likely related to device audio permissions, audio driver conflicts, or hardware settings rather than the IMVU app itself.
Here are the best troubleshooting steps to fix the static sound:
  1. Check App Audio Permissions (Mobile/PC):
    • On Mobile: Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > IMVU > Permissions. Make sure the Microphone permission is turned off and then turned back on to refresh it.
    • On PC: Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, and ensure that 'Allow desktop apps to access your microphone' is switched ON.
  2. Change Audio Output/Input Settings (PC): If you are on a computer, right-click the sound icon in your taskbar > open Sound Settings. Make sure your main headset is selected as the default device for both Input and Output. Go to Device Properties and lower the microphone default format quality slightly (e.g., to DVD Quality) to see if the static stops.
  3. Test with Another Device or Headset: Plug in a different pair of headphones or earphones with a mic. If the static disappears, your current headset or its cable might be damaged.
  4. Voice Chat Settings in IMVU: Inside the IMVU app settings, look for the Voice Chat options. Try toggling the Voice Chat feature OFF and ON again, or adjusting the mic sensitivity slider if available.
Give these steps a try to see if it clears up your audio. Let us know if you are using a phone or a PC so we can give you more specific steps!
