I have been an IMVU customer for approximately 17 years, and I am extremely concerned about recent changes involving VIP.
For many years, I purchased IMVU VIP through Newegg for approximately $50, which gave me about 8 months of VIP. I recently went to purchase another one and discovered that this option is apparently no longer available.
I was not aware that this purchasing method was being discontinued, and I do not recall receiving advance notice of the change.
I am now being directed to purchase VIP directly through IMVU for approximately $99.99 for a year. I attempted to purchase it because I need to maintain access to my accounts, but I received an error and could not complete the purchase.
There is another issue that concerns me even more.
I have separately purchased additional room slots for my accounts. These were paid-for features that cost approximately $29 each. I am now finding that these room slots are being restricted because I do not currently have VIP.
My question is: If a customer separately purchased a room slot, why should that paid-for slot become inaccessible simply because VIP is not active?
That seems like a completely different matter from the benefits included with VIP.
There is also the issue of earnings.
I have money that I have earned through IMVU, and I am extremely concerned that I cannot receive those earnings unless I maintain VIP.
If VIP is required to receive money that has already been earned, I believe customers deserve a clear explanation of where that requirement is stated in the Terms of Service or payout policy.
For customers with multiple accounts, the new VIP pricing can become extremely expensive very quickly.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking IMVU to clearly explain:
• When did the Newegg VIP option end?
• Why weren't long-time customers notified?
• Why are separately purchased room slots being restricted without VIP?
• Is VIP actually required to receive previously earned money?
• Where exactly is that requirement stated in the Terms of Service or payout policy?
• What happens to customers who have already paid for their room slots and have money earned through IMVU?
After approximately 17 years on IMVU, I believe long-time customers deserve clear answers when significant changes are made to the services they have been paying for.
I would really like to hear from other long-time creators who have experienced the same issue.
