As a longtime user and creator, I would love to see IMVU rooms become more interactive, giving people more ways to build experiences, explore together, invite friends, and keep coming back.
Here are six suggestions that could build on IMVU’s existing creative features:
Interactive objects without coding Add a simple menu that lets room owners assign actions to objects: display a message, reveal a clue, trigger an animation, or change an object’s appearance when clicked. For example, someone could create a treasure hunt by placing five interactive objects around a room.
Ready-to-customize activity templates Provide templates for trivia, scavenger hunts, outfit contests, and short stories with choices. Hosts could customize the questions, rules, and decorations without programming. Basic activities should be free to play.
Doors connecting rooms Let owners link a door to another room, with a destination preview before entering. Friends could build a connected neighborhood together: a café, a store, a plaza, and a nightclub, each within its own room.
Building with a group of friends Expand shared decorating to support multiple collaborators with specific permissions, such as moving furniture, adding decorations, or managing activities. Include an undo option while preserving each person’s ownership of their items.
Discovery based on what is happening Add activity filters such as “Trivia in Progress,” “Roleplay,” “Fashion Contest,” and “Newcomer-Friendly.” Show the language, starting time, and whether an activity is accepting participants. Give new experiences opportunities to be discovered.
A free starter kit for experimentation Give users a basic room and a few reusable interactive objects. A short tutorial could help them create their first activity and invite a friend. Creators could offer additional designs and more elaborate experience packs through the marketplace.
For an initial pilot, I suggest focusing on three tools: objects with messages and clues, a customizable trivia template, and activity discovery filters. These should work across mobile and desktop.
The goal is to give the community more freedom to express itself and spend meaningful time together, while opening new opportunities for creators. Success could be measured by how many users build an activity, invite friends, and return the following week.
IMVU already has a creative community. Accessible tools could empower that community to build countless new reasons to visit and stay.
Hello IMVU Team,
As a longtime user and creator, I would love to see IMVU rooms become more interactive, giving people more ways to build experiences, explore together, invite friends, and keep coming back.
Here are six suggestions that could build on IMVU’s existing creative features:

Thank you for considering these suggestions.
