Can I change the actual gender of my avatar?
Yes, you may! To change your gender in IMVU Classic (IMVU Client), all you have to do is to purchase an avatar of the opposite gender from the IMVU Catalog, and then equip that avatar from you inventory. If you have both avatar genders you can switch between them anytime.
Note: There are many different "types" of avatars available for purchase in the Catalog, and you may certainly purchase as many of these "types" as you like (consider each product listed in the Avatar section of the Catalog as a different "type" of avatar). However do not try to purchase multiple copies of the same avatar. You can only own one copy of each.
Can I change the gender listing of my avatar?
If you want your gender listing changed in the Catalog and on the IMVU Classic Website, go to your Account page (also found on the upper right side of any IMVU page), and click on the Change link next to the line that displays your current gender listing.
