There are times wherein you may experience difficulties accessing the IMVU website, just like any other website. Long delays in loading or even page timing out when trying to access the website may be caused by the following:

Browser Version

As of June 1, 2019. IMVU has dropped support for Internet Explorer. This means you can no longer access the IMVU site using this browser. Please update to the latest version of Chrome for the best IMVU experience.

Server Connection

Delays may occur if the site is down or if the server is very busy or experiencing overload. Brief outages may also occur as we upgrade the system from time to time (outages are rare but they do happen). Please try accessing the site again after 15 to 20 minutes to see if the site is up and running.

Anti-Virus Security/Firewall on Your Computer

A firewall or a pop-up blocker may prevent you from accessing the website. One easy way to test whether this is the case is to temporarily turn off the firewall and then try accessing the website again. You can turn the firewall back on afterwards. The same case may apply if you have a McAfee or a Norton Utilities Security program running. For a walk-through on how to adjust your computer's firewall or anti-virus settings, watch the video below:

Restrictions on the Network

If you are trying to access the site from a computer that is set up behind a LAN or office network, there is a possibility that the network is configured to block certain sites. These restrictions are normally set by the network administrator. You may try asking your network administrator or IT personnel to check if the IMVU website is restricted or not, if possible.
