Note that homepages and homepage customization are only accessible through the IMVU Classic Website!

If you have customized your Homepage (HP) with JavaScript or Flash, you may notice that those sections will work differently or stop working entirely. These changes have been made for security. We are unable to provide custom coding help on your HP, but here are a few tips to provide some direction:

What will happen to my homepage if I have added custom JavaScript?

Any JavaScript entered into the forms may stop behaving as desired.

I can’t access information about visitors to my Homepage from my JavaScript any longer.

For your protection, using scripts to access information (such as the currently logged in user) will not be permitted.

I cannot customize the blue bars and other items at the top of the page.  Why is that?

Any customizations to the appearance or behavior of the navigational area at the top of the page will not work. Only information below the shoutout bar at the top of the page can be customized.

Web links from my Homepage don’t open new pages. The new pages now show as a page within a page.

Links you added to your Homepage may open within the HP frame depending on the way the link is coded. Play around with adding target="_top" to your links to break out of the frame.

How can I remove all of the custom code from my Homepage and start over?

There are two ways to do this.  First, you can click the Edit buttons in each section and delete the code at Edit Custom HTML/CSS.  You can also do this via the account settings page by clicking Account or Account Settings at the top of the page.  Find Reset Homepage Panels and select all of the panels.  Click the Reset Panels button and you should be back to a Homepage free of custom HTML.

Also, note that starting the July 2018 release of Google Chrome (Version 68), all pages not using secure HTTP (HTTPS) will be rendered incorrectly. This means you also need to change the custom codes in your homepage to HTTPS. This can be done by simply replacing the HTTP with HTTPS. Most of your links should still work, and if not then they will need to be replaced.

IMVU will restrict custom coding on homepages to abide with this change starting June 28, 2018. As Google Chrome is used by more than half of all Internet users worldwide, making the change will ensure your page displays correctly for all viewers.
