What do I need to change my avatar name?
If you wish to change your name, you must obtain a Name Change Token.
Name Change Tokens can be purchased in our Store on IMVU Desktop or Website. You can buy the token for yourself or gift it to another account.

What names are allowed?
The following basic criteria must be followed when changing names:
- The name must be at least 6 characters long.
- The name cannot be all numbers (must contain letters).
- The name cannot contain special characters.
- The name must not belong to another active account.
- The name must be appropriate for IMVU's general audience. Names that violate this rule can cause an account to be permanently disabled.

Due to privacy reasons, we may not be able to tell you why some avatar names are unavailable even if they conform to the stated guidelines.
What if I want a name that's 5 characters or less?

What if I encounter an error during Name Change?
You can contact our support team through a Help Ticket (or Live Chat, for VIPs) for assistance. We will need to verify your account before proceeding with the Name Change, so please be ready with your basic account information.
What if I just want to change the capitalization of my name?
Changing the capitalization of your name also requires a Name Change Token.
My account was disabled for an inappropriate name, and I need to change it. How do I do that?
