Thank you everyone for your candid feedback. We have read each and every one of your concerns and understand the frustration some of our Creators are having. Transitioning to a new platform from one that is so familiar can be challenging. It sure has been a big for us and we appreciate everyone that has chipped in to help us work through the issues between Classic and Studio. We literally could not do this without you!
Rest assured that we are not removing Classic or the old Creator Tool, but we are continuing to move forward with new features that might only be available in the new game engine (Glow maps, reflection maps and iridescence are coming soon!) There will come a time where Classic will eventually need to be sunset, but it will not happen before we integrate the needed features and functionality that you've grown to love from Classic into Desktop and Studio. And we have quite a ways to go.
With that being said, we have made the decision to not implement this change until we can get Studio into a much more stable state for you. We realize now that it might have had a much larger impact on your workflow than we originally thought because of the compatibility issues you have brought to our attention.
Ideally, if you encounter an issue where a Studio published product does not look correct in Classic, there should be a path to fix it in Studio without having to go back into Classic to do so. Over the next few releases we will be concentrating heavily on this backward compatibility.
@Drosselmeyer has already posted a few solutions to some of the current issues. Please check these out:
In our latest version 1.2.2, we've added the ability to hide the names over your actors to make animated gif or video screen capturing easier among other small improvements We also have a long list of parity features the roadmap for 2022 (in no particular order):
Manual camera controls
High Density Pixel rendering (for crisp clean edges)
Lastly, I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions about what this change was meant to do. It would only prevent editing or resubmitting your product in Classic if you had originally published it in Studio. You would still be able to edit and publish new products in Classic, as well as edit your product in Studio that was created in Classic. You would also still be able to derive off of a Studio made product in Classic. For now though to reiterate, we will not be implementing this blocker.
If you have specific issues you'd like to share with us, we'd love to hear from you. Email us at [email protected].

After listening to feedback and giving some additional thought about this limitation, we’ve decided to delay the editing restraint until after the new year.
To help us understand the impacts you’re facing we encourage you to post HERE or contact [email protected] with specific details on what specific issues you’re trying to resolve in Classic Client.
Step by step process of your flow
Example PIDS that exhibit the issues you’re trying to fix
Here is more background on the upcoming change:
As IMVU Studio development continues, we need to consider how products behave when edited in both Studio and Classic Create Mode.
Currently, if you use Classic Create Mode to re-edit and submit an IMVU Studio product, you can introduce bugs that affect all platforms.
To mitigate the issue, we are implementing a small limitation starting some time in January 2022 December 1. If you publish a product in IMVU Studio, you will not be able to open that product for editing in Classic Create Mode.

Studio is still missing features that I must have in client. Not having those features simply means I cannot use studio at all. Hopefully it gets more updates soon.

So what will happen with products created in classic and already in the catalog? I have had issues with taking snapshots of products in studio. I will not go through my catalog and update everything, I would sooner hide them all and quit creating.

This actually feels a bit like we are being herded to just using studio. i understand that this is exactly where you want us to be, but at the moment studio is still not there for everyone. shouldn't more emphasis be on fixing studio so that it works with the 99% of the catalogue that exists, that was created using classic?

On creating wouldnt it be an idea to create your items first in classic, save it in file then just publish it through beta, since we are all used to using classic make use of using this as your sample tool then move it to studio.

Couple of thoughts as someone who has created on Classic but now fully moved on to Studio:
It makes sense for IMVU to do this. If I upload a product into the shop with normal and shiny maps, I'd be fearful to open it in Classic, not knowing what might happen to those maps. I think the ONLY time I would do any creating in Classic would be if I needed to bring in sound. I'd like to think in most cases one wouldn't need sound AND normal and shiny maps....however...
If one did need it all, I'd suggest first uploading the product with its sounds in classic, THEN editing to make the final item in Studio. Your sounds will be in there, as I pointed out to some when showing them how to create in Studio and why (for now) you can't add in sounds in Studio (yet).
In regards to other bugs found in Studio...I can agree one should be concerned and should speak up. I notice many strange things on my end often come from when I had the wrong type of blending on when masking.
For those uncertain, I'll put it out there that Studio is NOT a mobile app. It's a full software for creating in IMVU. I've grown to like it due to its workflow, easily labeling, and the addition of normal and shiny maps.
I don't think it's that hard to go from Classic to Studio, you just need to try. You might then find yourself exploring the new features, and lord knows I'd be happy to help any of you get to know them...as would the IMVU staff themselves.
In terms of the meshing issues, I have no opinion since I don't mesh, but if it's buggy they need to fix it.

Why???Just WHY??
I know that if a product isnt perfect to be used it is not given out to people to use it and studio sure isnt ready to be used, not fully at least and it is not perfect for sure.
Numbering of textures is a mess and i pointed this out many times since its a very serious issue.
Taking photos for a product,i mean clothing,is a mess also-TERRIBLE!
Uploading a chkn file is impossible!
Do you know what you are doing to your creators?Do you know what you are doing to texture and mesh creators who sell their hard work to have an income?
I seriously start to doubt you know.
Disappointed once again.

@Ericfr
Good luck with that Eric, I had a problem like that and went round and round with support for months. I sent ticket after ticket and got totally ignored. I went back into the client and in less than 5 minutes the problem was solved. YET!!! I go back into the studio and it's a mess now. Textures and settings changed. None of which I made in either the studio or the client.
I find that how the item looks in the studio isn't how it appears in the client. When I check out the desktop beta, it's even worse, because the beta has items as dark as the studio. Why does everything have to be so dark in the studio and beta???? I'm really tempted just to go back to the client and say "to hell" with the studio.

Yes, I agree with almost all these comments. The only reason anyone would wish to use the Classic Client to edit a product is because of all the issues with the studio. Mysterious alterations of textures and setting. These changes have happened as quickly as minutes. It happened today from what I had just set up less than an hour ago. How does the system arbitrarily decide to alter our work? Just one change can seriously damage the appearance and performance of an item.
The software is flawed, and in the end, the problems rarely get resolved by anyone but ourselves. I just submitted another ticket today for an issue that I can't fix. It's a software issue that VU will have to correct. What do I get back as a response... Ummm, we can't solve this either, but we'll look into it.

Oh so ok. Honestly I haven’t really checked Studio out. I just assumed it was mobile and iPad. But I can use it on my laptop which is cool. But it does mean learning all over again. It looks a lot more complicated than classic But all the new features look amazing.
But already I’ve noticed people complaining about studio
And I have to say. I very rarely had any trouble deriving in classic mode.
I actually remember we had a pre viewer once too. Then moved from there to classic.

This feels a bit early. Studio is still buggy as hell. I use Client to fix the problems that Studio creates. Also Studio feels like a maze to me although I've used it many times. December 1st feels way too soon.
Also I see hints that creating on Classic will be removed??? This would break my heart! I love Classic.

ive Been here over 10 years I’m so used to the classic mode and client that I’m really worrying that classic and client are going to get removed. My eyes are not brilliant so deriving on my large laptop in classic is what I’m used too. As I use photoshop to edit. I do have an iPad but I hardly use it for Imvu. Only to check and reply to messages. As for mobile Imvu I never use it. It’s just too small for my eyes.
I understand times are changing and moving but sometimes it’s better to have both choices. I know a lot of the originals here like me prefer classic and client mode.
it’s the younger generation that basically use the mobile and there isn’t much arty pictures now in stream/feed.
