This issue only started for me last night (Oct 11, 2022). I changed the ambient light from white to black and it didn't have any affect on my avatar. I'm not wearing a light and so something has evidently been changed in studio. I've have derived and published 23 ambient rooms over the last year solely in Vu Studio and this is the first time it's happened. Never used Client because my operating systems are all Apple based.

Thank you @TauntaunTonic. That's the new area on the UX that I've been missing. I have it now.. thank you for clearing that up. And thanks again, @LestatDeLioncourt for your time.

Good morning folks (well morning for me). You were both on the right track. @BishopCleric if you want to get the effect you are looking for, turn off "Local Ambient" in the environment settings. With this setting 'off', the avatar will take on the color of the ambient light that you have set. With it 'on', the avatar takes on the lighting from all the surrounding colors in the room. This is more realistic, but when you're looking to get the silhouette effect you're after, sometimes you need your own control.

Hope this helps!

I know the Engineering Team for Studio follow these posts. I wouldn't be surprised if Staff jumps in soon.

I do believe the Avatar should be effected by the room lighting. It is as if the avatar is automatically carrying a Body Light, LOL

Adding another "Actor" Avatar and the lighting is the same on both.

@LestatDeLioncourt, thank you for taking the time to confirm what I've been seeing at my end. At the risk of sounding negative, the "lit avatar" is not helpful and goes against the promised output of release 1.11.

How would I raise this as an issue? I'm guessing I raise a ticket?

I guess it is a good thing to see the correct effects in the Customer Shop and Rooms, but it sure makes it hard for the Creator to get the exact effects they are seeking while creating. :/

Hey, @BishopCleric I am seeing something similar in the Windows OS. I brought the PID: 36822845 in the Studio. That is the Parent Product to yours. Anyway, this is what I see in Studio.

Room LightingThis is what I see in Classic Shop Vs. the Next Shop with your Product.

Room Difference Next VS ClassicMaybe IMVU Staff can look into the Lighting of that room or what is going on with Studio, etc. I can only confirm what you see is not a MacOS issue. Windows is seeing similar. Oh I changed all the settings in the Studio Preferences and no help there either :/

Thanks @LestatDeLioncourt, appreciate your help. PID is 60796214. I didn't save a copy of the DMG. In imvu beta (desktop) the room looks exactly as it should. Will be interesting to see what you get.

Hi @BishopCleric Can you share the PID of the Room you are testing? I would be happy to test it with you and post back. If you saved a copy of the old DMG (ver 1.11.3) someplace, you can use that to test for one session before it auto-updates.

PID?

Thanks, xAidenSteelx.

That update is for release 1.11 (refers to enabling avatars to be lit based on the colors in the room, in real time) which is exactly how it should work imho. The release I have is 1.12.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. I've reinstalled and it's still showing my avatar "Lit".
