It's so socially acceptable on every platform out there, even irl, that I meet many artists who are living in hell because they're too afraid to reveal their talents to the world due to this terrifying risk.
How do we give eachother confidence, reassurance, and mental support so we could help the community grow?

DMCA as a law sucks, but it's all we have. If you're in the USA, get behind those politicians seeking to change and alter DMCA laws.

@RickEros It's worth getting comfortable with, because even if you're not a creator, knowing how to use the DMCA services is really helpful like if identify thieves took your real life pictures on FB and posted it on another site. There's a lot of websites advertising their own DMCA services but it's completely different, they're just selling some tools to scare off thieves, since the age of the internet is sort of still in it's medieval-era, most folks still have a lot to learn, and places are trying to be very vague about the details because it's noticed that folks are learning how to abuse it.
I've looked at tutorials and stuff about how to do a dmca takedown and honestly all these sites make it super confusing. The best bet is just going to imvu's customer service to ask and they'll give you the email address of imvu's dmca takedown department for you to open a case with them, so they'll send you the checklist you need to complete. The list is actually so simple, I was confused because I was expecting a tsunami of work to do! And this checklist is going to be the same for every other site outside of imvu, each site is supposed to display somewhere what their dmca contact department is, they might try to add a lot of distractions to obscure it lol.

Not really but it's good to know. I was just curious to the OP's concern about somebody getting their actual name or home address. I just don't really see how that could happen.

Hi @RickEros The DMCA Process for Copyright infraction is a legal question. We aren't allowed and shouldn't talk about legal issues here in the public Discussions.
Creators can surf the web to find the actual DMCA laws. If you think you need consultation, talk to a competent legal adviser.
I'm curious...how would the other person get one's real life name and home address?

@LestatDeLioncourt Most people I know are too scared to use DMCA takedowns or even contest false claims against them because they're worried if they go through the procedure that the other person will use their real life home address and name to harass them, like what's happening with me right now with a known psychopath I was warned about by others who went through the dmca process with them.

I feel comfortable knowing the DMCA process works! I have used it many times. I also take comfort in knowing people who repeatably ripoff others will be dealt with by IMVU. I think these two things are a great deterrent. A deterrent at least for those who are aware of the consequences. Those who are not aware will soon become very aware when dealt with by the system.

I encourage anyone who has had these things come about follow the outlines giving by IMVU for the process. The more people who use the system, the less people who will go against the system.
