(I am going to be intentionally vague and not name who the item is derived from, or even what kind of item it is, as I'm NOT going to be adding fuel to this fire and teaching people how to circumvent the TOS or the MCG for that matter).
So a few weeks back I found an item on the front pages that circumvents the MCG using a specific derived item within the top sales pages, and I was shopping today and noticed this still hasn't been addressed or fixed, and honestly. This one was further back than the front pages, but still within the first 100. Which, to me, is still far too high on the list for me to be comfortable.
The screenshots you see are without the item necessary, and the other with that item on (censored by me to not be posting AP content in a GA forum).
Before you comment, yes, I submitted a help ticket with the appropriate (parent mesh) PID that is necessary to cause this exploit to work, and I'm hoping IMVU will take the time to actually figure out how to stop this. This item necessary is very benign, though it is EXTREMELY popular, and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people own items derived from the parent mesh that causes this exploit to work.
We have to address the elephant in the room though: how Peer Review is set up is causing these items to pass when they shouldn't.
The fact you have to pair it with another item to access the AP nature means these items will continually pass peer review as you start with nothing but the IMVU avatars when you open PR.
Most people are not trying on random items from their catalog with during the PR either, which means until this particular exploit is addressed among the wider community, it will continue to happen.
And while I do want this addressed, I do NOT want the creator who's mesh is being exploited to be affected by this. They likely don't even know their items are being used this way, and considering the type of item itself is so benign it's almost comical, it would be stupid to rerate that parent mesh and any corresponding derives.
Something needs to be done. My first thought was have PR open with your default outfit on, as considering how popular the parent product necessary for this exploit is, I can promise you a good number of people are gonna have it on their default outfit, and are going to see this item should be rated AP, and BOOM, you get the correct rating most of the time.
Did a little more digging just now to look into the parent products of the item that circumvents the MCG too, but to no avail. The one this screenshot is gathered from has no other parent than the default empty body derive.
This has me slightly concerned these are black market meshes.
My biggest concern though, has to be the fact these are reaching to the top pages in sales before anyone notices or seems to care that they should be AP and not GA.
