Request for Transparency and Fairness for Creators

Hello,

I’d like to respectfully address an ongoing concern about the experience of being a creator on IMVU.

It seems clear that IMVU wants to encourage people to create — and many of us do, proudly. We go through the verification process, provide our ID, tax information, and more just to become part of the creator community. But once we’re in, it feels like there are constant obstacles that limit what we can do, how much we can earn, and how freely we can operate.

For instance, we are limited in how many credits we can give to alternate accounts (alts), even though having an alt is incredibly common — especially when catalogs get large and crowded. Many of us use alts to help organize and manage our work. It’s not about gaming the system; it’s about managing our creativity and visibility. Yet, accounts are suddenly placed on hold without any explanation, messages are removed, and asking questions feels discouraged.

Support tickets usually direct us back here or to generic help pages that don’t actually answer the questions. It’s frustrating when we’re investing real time, energy, and even our identity verification — only to be left without transparency or support.

I’d also like to touch on something I feel is very important: the business model. We are charged a commission the moment we upload a product to the catalog. Then, another cut is taken when the item is sold. And despite the volume we may sell, the payout limit remains unchanged. If I work more and sell more, I expect to be able to earn more. But that doesn’t seem to happen — and yet, I still pay taxes on all of this.

On top of that, changes keep being made — like the payout system, the removal of room radios, and now AP becoming “AP+.” Meanwhile, core problems remain unaddressed. It feels like we're being encouraged to switch to a new version of the program that many of us don’t want to use. We came here to create and socialize, not to have our private life exposed or to take selfies in a new system we didn’t ask for.

I’m not trying to be rude or unkind. I just want clarity. Many creators have already left for platforms like Second Life, where they feel respected and treated as professionals. I’ve stayed here because I care about this platform and the work I’ve done — but I need to know: Are creators going to be valued going forward?

Please don’t just redirect me to another help link or automated message. I hope someone from IMVU will respond with real answers.

Thank you for your time and understanding.
