I feel it’s time to be honest and open about what I’m seeing, because someone needs to say it. I’ve been on IMVU since 2017. I’ve stayed because I love creating, I enjoy working hard, and I’ve built something here. But the truth is, I’m over it — and I think a lot of other creators are too, whether they admit it or not.
Lately, every time I open up the rooms section, what I see is not okay. There’s nudity, explicit content, and suggestive language everywhere — even in places that should be marked GA. I’m saying this as nicely as I can, but it’s time to clean this place up, or at the very least, separate it clearly. In my opinion, there should be two different platforms: one for social/chat and another for adult content, because what’s happening now is blurring the lines way too much.
What’s worse is that I see teens — sometimes as young as 13 — getting into AP spaces and rooms they shouldn’t even have access to. I don’t believe your age verification system is working the way it should. It's too easy to manipulate with someone else’s ID or AI-generated images. Meanwhile, those of us who verify properly and play by the rules are being restricted, controlled, or even punished. Our credits are limited, our alt usage questioned, and accounts are placed on hold without explanation.
And while creators like me are paying taxes and giving you our time, ideas, and products, it feels like we’re being treated like children. We’re the ones making the content that fills this platform, yet we have no real say in how it’s moderated. We pay for AP, we pay to be considered adults, and still we have to tiptoe around words like “the S word” while rooms flaunting far worse are left untouched.
If you’re going to promote this site to new creators — especially through recent ads — then you need to answer this: What kind of platform are you running?
Because if IMVU is now a sex-focused or adult-only site, I want no part in it. And I certainly don’t want my name associated with it. I have grandchildren who sometimes walk by when I’m working, and I should be able to open a page without worrying what kind of images or room titles are going to pop up.
On top of that, I’ve noticed that products from deleted or old creator accounts are still circulating. So if I decide to leave, will IMVU continue making money off my catalog while removing my access? That’s not right, and we all know it.
You asked us for feedback. Well, I’m giving mine. I will continue to voice these concerns until they’re addressed. I’m not trying to be rude — just real. Please start listening to the creators who’ve been here from the start, the ones building the content this platform depends on.
