Since we’ve been asked to come to the forums and share our thoughts, I’m doing just that. I plan to keep addressing topics that I believe affect not only me but many other users and creators who may not feel comfortable speaking up.
Today I want to talk about the direction of your Next platform and how it's being pushed on us — along with some of the unfair requirements that seem to come with it.
You're asking creators to participate in Next, take photos, and spend time in this version of IMVU just to stay active, visible, or earn Pro status. But many of us simply don’t have high-powered computers, nor do we want to spend our time taking pictures just to be recognized. We are creators — we build products, not selfies.
To be blunt, Next is overloaded with flash-style features that are heavy on basic systems, and many of us are struggling to keep up. It feels like we're being forced into a system that doesn’t reflect why we came to IMVU in the first place.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that Next exposes more of our information — like who follows who, who’s shopping from where, and so on. I’ve even received inappropriate propositions from users who discovered my catalog through Next. That’s not okay. Technology may be evolving, but this platform isn’t keeping up in the right ways. You're adding phone compatibility, third-party voice chat integrations, and pushing people toward platforms like Skype, while voice was something you promised VIP members directly — and still haven’t delivered.
Let me be clear: I’m not against progress. But I am against creators being required to jump through more hoops just to maintain status, especially when those hoops have nothing to do with our actual creative work. Our Pro status should be based on our catalogs, our quality, and our sales — not how many selfies we take or how often we post in the forums.
Speaking of the forums — they feel more like a gossip center than a support hub. Some moderators remove posts just because they don’t like what’s being said, even when it’s shared respectfully. That leaves many of us feeling silenced and intimidated. If our opinions are going to be removed anyway, what's the point of asking us to speak?
Also, why are we still being asked for the same identification and verification over and over again — with personal details sent overseas — after we’ve already verified once? Our full legal names, phone numbers, addresses, and photos holding IDs are sensitive information. We shouldn’t have to send it multiple times or to locations outside the U.S. if your company is based here.
This whole process has become more exhausting and frustrating than ever before. It’s discouraging to see how much creators now have to pay, submit, and prove just to do the work we’ve always done here. You’ve removed things like the old “grandfather” clause, limited our credit usage, and continuously added more layers — yet you continue to cater mostly to a younger crowd who use phones and have different expectations of the platform.
Please don’t forget about the creators who helped build IMVU into what it is. We’ve given our time, creativity, and energy to this place. We deserve better communication, fairer expectations, and a platform that respects our efforts.
I’ve submitted tickets. I’ve followed the links. I’ve done what’s asked. But now I’m here, telling you clearly: these problems need real attention — not copy-paste replies in our inboxes.
