Theft within Shop

I'm sure many well-known creators can relate to this, but the amount of product theft in the shop is only getting worse. Almost every time I check the catalog, I come across new shops blatantly stealing my work. It’s becoming a serious issue, and I really believe IMVU needs to take stronger action to address it.

Right now, there seems to be no real consequence for stealing. Even when I file a DMCA, the same people just return with new accounts and continue doing it. I don’t understand why repeat offenders aren't permanently banned since I know IMVU has the power to IP ban. At this point, the lack of enforcement is enabling the problem to grow.

I think it's time for IMVU to take stronger, more proactive steps. Here are a few suggestions:

Implement stricter penalties for repeat offenders, including permanent bans after multiple DMCA violations.

Track IP addresses to prevent banned users from creating endless new accounts.

Add a better in-platform reporting system, allowing creators to flag suspected theft more efficiently.

Increase transparency by letting creators see what actions are taken after reports or DMCAs.

Create a verification system for original creators, which could help distinguish genuine content from copycats.

There are talented people on this platform trying to build something original, and we deserve to be protected. I really hope IMVU listens and starts taking creator theft more seriously

I can only confirm that, but when you see how many more opportunities for product theft are constantly coming onto the market, it surprises me less and less.

I addressed this problem years ago – IMVU always just refers to the DMCA. They don't seem to have any protection measures for their creators, and I don't think that's going to change.

Apart from that, the shop is becoming increasingly monotonous with all the identical-looking products that are stolen or 1:1 derivatives. You can sometimes find tons of pages of derivative products that all look exactly the same.

But in my opinion, that's also a problem with IMVU's pro-creator policy – it's all about quantity over quality.
