 like to know just what is going on with Classic, from management. The mail don't want properly, 2 factor ID not working correctly,  Sign in denying correct passwords, Music store not working in months but still taking money. It looks like the site is struggling to stay alive on life support. Question is: Are we in the count down to shut down classic or is IMVU about to pull the plug completely? Myself and others don't want a corporate  scripted jibber  jabber answer. We want the facts  about these issues and considering what the consumer has been putting up with the answers need to come from the Top.

Problems often arise when some user types mingle with other user types because of compatibility issues. 

Some of these issues can arise when some user types are unaware of basic things like what KBs are, which names are displayed, ability or lacking ability to see chat emojis posted by Mobile users. 

  1. Classic users can only see account names
  2. Classic users can't see emojis.
  3. Only Classic users can see KBs while KBs still affect those whom can't see KBs... mobile phones getting overheated if someone enters with high KBs
  4. Only Classic users can see KBs while KBs still affect Beta/NEXT/Desktop users.... they can still crash for some strange reason if someone enters with high KBs


When creating chatrooms then chatroom owners should get more options in the room filter of whom are allowed to load into their chatroom. This is because of compatibility issues

Options like: 

  1. Age range 
  2. Gender
  3. Maximum KBs allowed 
  4. Which user type can use the chat room: Mobile, Beta, NEXT, Desktop, Classic
  5. Emoji prevention
  6. Which name type gets displayed
  7. Outfit change prevention... some users spam frequent outfit changes while inside chat rooms and doing that causes extreme lagging and sometimes crashes

Maybe the IMVU tech team should look into developing some form of AI Chatroom Bouncer/Mod that chatroom owners could choose purchase to enforce room rules because it stands to reason that regular mods can't always be online to mod chatrooms. Such a purchase would be done on the same shopping form or page where users purchase account upgrades and credits. 

Such an AI Chatroom Bouncer/Mod would need to be able to whisper a generic greeting to every person loading into the room and ability to detect if someone was causing problems like: 

  1. Speaking another language that was specified in room information / description
  2. Posting links to 3rd party tracking sites that ignore user privacy or posting links to sites selling black market sites
  3. Using products which violate User Guidelines
  4. Spamming
  5. Bullying
  6. Hate speech
  7. Etc.

Yes I understand that younger users use their phones for everything but it has become a huge problem with them not able to see their KBs. They try to enter rooms in classic causing them to crash. In the past month I have seen at least four phone app users with KBs over 17K. Please fix this so they can see their KBs and possibly tell them what they are?

IMVU JUST TOOK AWAY ALL OF MY SONGS AND MIXES..THEY ARE ALL GONE...I MAY NOT BE STAYING ON THIS WEBSITE MUCH LONGER AFTER THIS...ALL THOSE MEMORIES AND ALL THE MEMORIAL MIXES I MADE FOR DEAR FRIENDS WHO HAD PASSED AWAY AND ALL THE CHRISTMAS AND HOLIDAY MIXES, HALLOWEEN, ETC...ALL GONE FOR GOOD...12 YEARS WORTH OF SONGS AND THESE PEOPLE WANT TO ONLY REFUND MEMBERS SONG PURCHASES AFTER OCTOBER 2025...THATS 6 MONTHS .AND NOT EVEN REFUNDING CASH..THEY ARE ONLY REFUNDING MEMBERS IMVU CREDITS WHICH ARE WORTHLESS AND COST NOTHING TO THEM TO GIVE OUT....THEY HAVE SOME NERVE..WITH NO MUSIC TO PLAY THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE BEING ON MOBILE OR DESKTOP,,,NOT MUCH FUN AND NOT WORTH IT..AT THIS POINT IM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THESE PEOPLE

As most of you have said, this is just not right. So many of us have been in here for 10 or 12 years and so many from the birth of IMVU. They have taken so many things away for the dumbest of reasons and, of course, never considered reimbursing us even 1 credit. I use classic 99% of the time. I will post photos on fee but find I have to make sure I'm not following everyone in the universe. Yes, todays, generation is mobile but there are still plenty of us who are older and are not. It's a sad state of affairs we are facing in what used to be a place we could go for hours and hours.... OUR OTHER REALITY...... it is sinking into oblivion.

personally i prefer classic over the others instead of bringing classic to an end go work on cleaning up next and that theres so many that enter rooms posting links still and still under 18s are still getting in and on another note i really really dont like the new update seriously cant enter a non ap room with ap on or even put on ap thats just messed up i change often into ap things wen im in my rooms but now i cant cause u took that away from us your making vu boring and you will loose alot of people if continue please give us back the ability to change into ap at least in a club of ur own

@Sarirea  Yes, I agree with you. Unfortunately, they mainly focus on IMVU Mobile and IMVU Desktop and seem to be paying less attention to the old Classic Client. Some things haven't worked properly for a long time, but the bugs aren't being fixed.

I tested IMVU Desktop, but I didn't like it. Some features that work with IMVU Classic don't work with IMVU Desktop. As a long-time Classic user, I find IMVU Desktop simply boring. With the Classic Client, we always had cool parties with voice boxes, music boxes, and DJ light effects, but that's no longer possible with IMVU Desktop.

@Lyciel666 so the bubbles can be turned off. With a keyboard command. Is this information readily and easily found or is it a hidden feature known only by the long time users? If it is a hidden feature, why? Surely the classic app can be updated to make this feature readily available to the new user experience?

While the desktop and next app might cover some of the visual environment. Not having to use a work around to not see what you wrote twice is more user friendly.

BUBBLES - You can easily turn off the speech bubbles with CTRL+B - nobody has to read their writing twice if they know how to use Classic ;)

So I saw this topic and started reading responses and I saw something that caught my eye:

"I strongly suggest you spend some time learning it's features and give feedback to IMVU regarding, the inspirations you may have and contributive suggestions for further development"

Since there is IMVU Next, IMVU Desktop and IMVU Classic I decided to try all three.


Camera Navigation: Next and Desktop have better 360 viewing at the cost of speed. Classic has the viewing speed at the cost of less user friendly 360 viewing.

Product Nodes: Next and Desktop do this one very nice. You can see what your avatar is going to be doing before interacting with the product. Classic doesn't do this.

Chatting Experience: Each instance had it's ups and downs. Really comes down to preferences.
    Chat Box: Classic did this one better. It doesn't cover up the visual environment like Next or Desktop.
    Bubbles?: Do we need to see what we wrote twice? Next and Desktop wins here.
    Multiple Chat Sessions: Classic does better on being able to switch between chatting environments. Next and Desktop make it easier to follow along when not in a particular chatting scene.
    Changing Looks: I found the experience to be about the same across all three platforms.

@MrNathanLadds -- they only shutdown one version of the Flash widget but another new version exists that is functioning - this is more about $$$ than losing any contract -- plain and simple IMVU wants to control access to Music so they can profit through subscription access to use it on their platform.

On The Service, & No, You Can't Just Go, & Update The Product To Fix It,
