Holding Accounts

I’m writing today about an issue that goes beyond just myself—it speaks to a pattern of mistreatment I’ve seen over the years, and one particular case that truly concerns me.

Someone I know, a long-standing and respected creator, has had their IMVU account placed on hold for nearly six months. They were accused of making a purchase, which they never made. Despite having proof—including payment history, verified identity, and account security—IMVU has failed to provide any solid evidence or justification for this hold.

Instead, your response has been to repeatedly redirect them to the community forums. But not everyone feels comfortable posting on public forums, especially when their account and reputation are at stake. The forums, which often feel more like a gossip hub than a professional support channel, are not a solution. If moderators decide they don’t like what someone shares, it gets flagged or removed, and no meaningful help is ever given.

This person paid for VIP, had a catalog of legitimate creations, and followed the rules. Yet without warning, their account was locked. Why? Because they were successful? Because they made good sales? That’s what it looks like—especially when IMVU keeps changing its reasoning without providing clear evidence.

Creators invest real time, real money, and real emotion into their accounts. When you hold an account hostage without proper cause or proof, you’re not just hurting someone’s earnings—you’re harming their dignity. If you truly had a case, there would be no need to dodge with vague replies or forum links. Instead, this feels like a tactic to silence someone and push them off the platform.

Let me be clear: this kind of treatment sends a message to all of us. It tells us that no matter how long we’ve been here, how much we’ve contributed, or how many rules we’ve followed—our work and presence can be erased without accountability.

I’ve been on IMVU for almost two decades. I’ve seen many changes—some good, some not. But what’s happening now is not just disappointing—it’s dangerous to the integrity of your platform.

If you truly value your creators, then it’s time to stop hiding behind policies, forums, and copy-paste responses. Give people the chance to defend themselves properly. Review account holds fairly. And above all—communicate with honesty and respect.

This individual has done nothing wrong. They’ve provided proof. They deserve their account back. And more importantly, they deserve to be treated with the same fairness and transparency that IMVU demands from its users.
