What are "Followers" ?

I recently discovered that on the NEXT pages (which I hardly ever look at) it says that I have many more "followers" then friends. And apparently I have Followers who are not on my Friend list. This disturbs me. I have had a problem with a stalker. I use only the so-called classic IMVU client and I always set my availability to "Friends Only", so only people on my Friends list will see me log on. What exactly does "Following" somebody mean? What is the status of these people whom I do not know who are following me? What can they see about me? More importantly, is there some way - other than blocking them - to keep someone from "Following" me without my permission? Is there a setting somewhere where I can choose to not let someone Follow me if they are not on my Friends list? Why do people I have not Friended appear in my "Following" list as well? How does one become a Follower or Followed?

I find it creepy when strangers follow me because it's akin to stalking.

Every so often I will look through the list of those who follow me. If I spot strangers then I will probably defend myself from such creepy stalkers by inspecting their profiles and search for any content that might be against the user guidelines. If I find nothing I will simply block them but if I do find something incriminating then I MIGHT report it. This usually depends on the stalker's response to me when I confront them about why they were following me.

I don't mind chatting with strangers provided they can carry an intellectual conversation, know when it's appropriate to engage in humor and when to be serious. This is what public rooms are for.

What I mind is when strangers either follow me or request friendship before friendship is earned.

Anyone who requests friendship before it's earned either has ulterior motives or doesn't value true friendship. Such folk can't be trusted and get blocked before they can take advantage of kindness or cause disappointment.

A list of 25 to 30 trusted friends is better than a larger list of fake friends and 100s of creepy stalkers following one around.

If folk are shallow or I sense any red flags during my character assessment of those I meet in public rooms then as a rule of thumb I block them. This will prevent them from following me or requesting friendship.

Grammar, intellect, interests, appearance (outfit), culture, and social alignment are some of the things that are used in character assessment. I have standards that help me avoid: getting hurt, getting used, getting abused, troublemakers and clowns.

Some but not necessarily all red flags include: Dressing acting talking like someone in a gang or from the "hood", dressing acting talking like a bimbo or whore, toxic masculinity, 3rd wave feminism, radical activism especially leftist, bullies, trolls, folk who think it's cool to be cold mean or evil, Masters Mistresses and such, drug addicts alcoholics and those who think it's cool to 420 in public, folk who constantly trigger DJ music instead of use the old school music player, folk with excessive KBs or body lights, folk using giant avatars or look like steroid freaks, folk who look ugly on purpose with intent to make others uncomfortable, giant butts, giant breasts, BM outfits, folk who engage sex shows instead of take it private . . . . .

I have 104 Friends and 267 Followers.
This means I have 163 "Followers" who are not on my "Friends" list.
I don't know a lot of them, and I found two whom I did not want
to have any information about me. There is an option to "Block",
but there is no option to disable following. I don't want to just
Block all of these people. I can't find any global controls for
Following in any settings.

What exactly does "Following" somebody mean?

Hi,
So what is a Follower on IMVU?

The Best way I know what this is, would be as if you thought
of this as something like you would if you were on FaceBook,
or Twitter.. This isn't something New, it's been around for a bit,
but it's also not something that has always been there on the
IMVU Program Service...

This Space has always felt to me as something that is out of place,
& always felt sorta hidden away in a way that not many know about it...

Does that make any sense??

I've never used, nor looked at it myself,
& in your actual settings, I think there is
a way to actually disallow "Following" to
be made by & to other People...

See if maybe you can find it??

At least it used to be an Option,
hopefully it still is...
