I wanted to know what are the new policy on us doing imvu role-playing since I'm creating a book based on the character I made on here. I want to make sure I am not breaking any laws on this policy, since most of my characters are created from my own mindset.

I have a Question, is there a way we can create a system that deals with the role-play Rules itself and give background information. So that people can learn the history and laws of what it was created in the first place, so people will know what safe and what is not. So that we can have the rights to role-play in a safe place because mine is based off and anime I created from a book and I want to keep the laws and policy of imvu in them.

Folk can get in very serious trouble even for fantasy style roleplaying.

Someone I was friends with got a 2 week suspension for fantasy roleplay.

The setting was Victorian era power struggles between several Houses. Some of those Houses were vampires, werewolves, witches and other denizens of the night. There were often violent battles and characters sometimes got killed. We thought everyone was onboard with the nature of the roleplay. The few who's character got killed knew that death was usually only a temporary setback because of magic and other ways to rise from the grave. In fact death could in some cases make a character more powerful. It was supposed to be fun.

One day my friend got reported for abuse. It wasn't her first time getting reported but this time it was more serious because she got suspended for 2 weeks. The specifics were not disclosed in the message from IMVU. When she contacted IMVU on the phone the only thing they could tell her was that they had reviewed a flagged chat log and found her guilty of violating the TOS. They wouldn't give any specifics because that would expose the victim's identity and make them a target for further abuse.  Back then folk could call on the phone and talk to the Staff of IMVU.

Later we found out a few details because the person who reported her (a lower ranking vampire from a House that was enemies with our House)  started telling others not to attack her character and what would happen if anyone did. She even said it was her who had reported the Queen of our House. She told everyone that she was friends with XXXXXXX who was a IMVU Staff member.

Her character was basically untouchable because anyone she reported would get in very serious trouble. To prove this she invited several high ranking characters from different Houses for a peace talk / chat to end the war between the Houses. Her friend XXXXXXX was there and everyone was warned that IMVU doesn't allow roleplay that was abusive or violent.

After that meeting all the fun stopped and the Houses disband because the roleplay style the group was built on could get anyone in trouble if someone was flagged for combat which IMVU viewed as abusive violence.

Some folk shouldn't join a roleplay if they are too sensitive.

I don't think there's a lot of restriction on role play within IMVU provided. Of course it doesn't violate their community guidelines. Obviously in simple terms, it can't touch on sensitive topics that could cause trouble.

For instance, there's always been an issue with people making child avatars and pretending to be children. Not in the sense of just being normal children, but then when they take those avatars and do perverse things with it. Things that pretty much slide into the realm of pedophilia and child pornography.

I would also imagine topics such as rape, racism and bigotry, misogyny and misandry, those types of things can obviously cause problems and get people banned.

Now one could ask the question of whether or not they could just do it in a private room, and I really don't know because whenever we type in a private room could probably still be detected by IMVU. Most of the time, what somebody types can be easily reported by somebody and then you have trouble.

I don't think there's anything wrong with role play on things like pretending to be a family, or some kind of dungeons & dragons World, or even some adult themes. I just think when it crosses the line into obscene or offensive, you're just playing with fire.
