Yes

If either of you already owns another room that you both wish to be used as a shared room then it can be done and will be less expensive than buying a new room shell to be built up.

But first I advise that you both have a chat about this and come to an agreement on which room shell to use as the shared room. It's just as important that both of you both come to an agreement on how the room will be furnished. Communication and agreements are vital.

To switch the room shell:

  1. First load into the shared room (which will still be the original default room shell that was provided when the shared room package was purchased). I suggest you both are in the shared room for this next step. It might be best for the one who bought the shared room to load into the shared room and then invite the other person into the shared room; especially if not using IMVU Classic.
  2. Second step is for the person who has the desired room shell in their inventory of rooms to open the room inventory to click the load button of the desired room shell.
  3. Shortly after the desired room shell will load; including any previous furniture placed in the same locations.
  4. Congratulations you both now share a room that you both like.

TIP:

Build the room up slowly and make sure you both agree every time something is moved or added.

Try to both be present in the room when adding and placing furniture. I suggest only adding and placing one item at a time even if you both are there. While either of you can add furniture from your inventories it's very important that only one of you moves, places and locks the furniture. The server can get confused if both of you are moving furniture at same time; it can cause severe glitches. Example: some of the furniture not be in the room on subsequent visits or worse... room loading failures where neither of you can enter the room. Such glitches will need assistance from IMVU tech department to solve (help ticket assistance takes weeks).

I suggest only adding or moving a few items per room building session.

It is very important to only add and place furniture that both of you agree on. I advise that you are both in the room every time something new is added and placed. This is so you both can chat about it and come to an agreement. Again communication is vital.

The most common reason furniture disappears from shared rooms is because the other person deleted it.

Trust is important when sharing a room with someone. This is why one needs to be very critical of whom one chooses to share rooms with.
