The Beta and NEXT versions feel awkward and the shop thumbnail icons look generic instead of actual pictures of the way the products look. Public rooms dont allow customization of room display pictures. Also furniture placement feels awkward and clumsy. One cant open profile cards while in chatrooms and one cant see the names of folk. One cant see how many KBs of folk but their KBs can still cause problems if their KBs are high. 

Then there is room lighting which is either too bright or dark when compared to IMVU Classic and folk whom don't use IMVU Classic seem to be unaware how products with color enhancements give the same annoying effect as body lights which ruin rooms with a darkened ambient look. I often have to boot such folk because they ruin the room atmosphere with their bright outfits which dont fit the room atmosphere of the rooms I am mod in.

There are a lot more practical problems with Beta and NEXT that I could write about but I need to mention other type of problems.

Another type of problem with Beta, NEXT and Mobile IMVU is the social aspect, especially the mobile users. Often IMVU feels like it has been invaded by folk whom have core values that are incompatible with the old school IMVU community. IMVU has become a battle ground and the invading force are pushing us out. We are fighting a losing battle from being taken over and I know the invaders are not spending as much money on IMVU as the old school users do or did before IMVU became a cold and hostile environment.

Another problem with folk who don't use IMVU Classic is they don't seem to care how they act or how to communicate. They have insanely high KBs, unable to write normal words, use emojis to communicate in some "secrete" code which they refuse to teach the older generation, they are rude, demand unearned respect, think everyone needs to be added and followed. They don't seem to know how real life works, demand instant gratification, refuse to greet folk on room entry like how difficult is it to just write hi everyone? They are immature and childish even as adults. They seem to be attention seekers whom suffer from narcissism; their constant fixation on posting dozens of selfies every day is so annoying and proves that they think of themselves as being important and popular. I can't stand folk whom are so caught up and in love with themselves. They don't know the meaning of humility and modesty. 

I can go on and on but the bottom line is I often need to boot folk whom don't use IMVU Classic; especially when they ruin the atmosphere and tranquility of rooms where I am a mod. It's a waste of time trying to explain things and reason with them. They are a dime a dozen. Also they seldom invest money in IMVU because they don't want to use time and effort to become part of the actual community that built the backbone of IMVU. Most of them are just passing through because they were lured in by advisements that gave them the false impression that friendship didn't need to be earned and maintained. They don't know what friendship actually means when they add folk they haven't built a friendship with.

My opinion:

1. They update Classic, but it's more about bug fixes and sometimes big new features, like AP+
2. Players are not working likely because the systems that supported them are vanishing. Those players were built with Adobe Flash, and yet Flash has been made obsolete for years, not to mention they have security holes.
3. I would rather they put their resources into FINISHING Desktop so it is on par or better than Classic. Still would love narration, the /me thing.
4. From what I heard, voice chat in the past got ugly with trolls and bigots making problems and harassment. I think at least with it being a charged service, many trolls won't bother.
5. I like IMVU Radio. Works better in my book than IMVU Music, as I will hear my own mix in IMVU Music go silent for reasons of quirks or licensing. I like how I can use services and pump my own music into a room.
6. Classic is built on old libraries and such, and it's unable to go beyond its original working. I recall the reason IMVU wanted new software was so they could improve the 3D, and we have it with shine, particles, normal maps, and I would really love to see drop shadows.  I even love how I can toy with lighting in rooms I derive as a creator.
7. The hardest reality is a LOT of people do not even own PCs anymore. I encounter so many now on mobile, and they're not young kids on GA, but even older AP users and even AP+ users on phones. They maybe own their phone, a game system like an Xbox, and possibly a tablet. I can't blame IMVU for going to the market.

I know many hate Desktop, and I agree it needs work and needs to be finished, but it is the direction things are going.  I'd rather try it and push on VU to finish Desktop and make a client we can use and enjoy, as opposed to slapping band aid fixes on Classic. Hell, they could put in some options to tweak the UI so it looks like Classic if that will make people happy.
