I don't know who else does this, none of my friends have told me, but this is what I do:
On classic, I try on a room I own by opening it's product page on the classic website and hit Try On while I'm in the classic client's shop.
Once I have the room on in the shop room, I go browze furniture and try them each on. This way I can see if furniture goes well with the color tone of my room. This has saved my life. I cannot do this on the new imvu.
I know I could just have something made custom to go with the color themes of my rooms, but honestly, knowing how much work creators have put into their products and wanting sales, I rather just find something already made and show my appreciation.
Example, right now I'm looking for nature scene furniture. Searching through all the log seats and campfires that go well in my room. So many shades of brown, stone, and leafy bushes to choose from in shop. I freaking love this trick, but I never see anyone talk about it.
This trick is also essential when using the "products like this" /derivations of a mesh when I find a shape I like and just need the right colors.
