I don't understand why orientation was removed in the first place, that was important to let others know what you are. It's annoying having lesbian/bi females asking me out and I'm a straight female.

@Petrazzenka: It really depends on the theme of the room and the owner’s preferences. For example, a ballroom room might have a strict dress code: women are expected to wear elegant, formal attire, while men must wear suits. In those settings, the owner or mods may ask you to reveal your gender, or even whisper to confirm your age. many people don’t read the room description before joining, so they miss the requirements.
Hidden gender can also apply to queer people, since some don’t identify strictly as female or male. In the Classic client bio, there used to be an option in the sexual orientation list “Queer” while keeping gender hidden.

-- In 3 of the rooms where I am a mod there are rules about such.
-- The mods are required to make sure folk show their gender and age.
-- While it's technically not against the user guidelines for chatroom owners to have such rules for their chatrooms it's against the user guidelines to tell anyone to unhide age and gender.
-- The only solution is for mods to tell folk to:
Please read the room information and to obey the rules listed.
(3 minutes after 1 warning) Read and obey the room rules
(3 minutes after 2nd warning) THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO OBEY THE RULES
(3 minutes after 3rd warning) GOOD BYE

@Kuvi : I agree with you. They had no reason to remove it. Many classic users were using it including myself, were still using it. I find it unfair their made the decision based on statistical data. It doesn't always tell the whole story at times. Staff should listen to the community's voice and consider the emotional value of the feature especially for classic client users. Ofc those Stats show usage, but they don’t show meaning. IMVU should weigh community sentiment alongside data.

@Desmay : IMVU classic client and Desktop, mobile and beta are not consistent with each other in terms of bio. Couple of years back, the desktop next and classic were consistent, whatever you wrote about yourself in the classic appear the same way in the IMVU desktop next, beta and mobile. We had a tagline and bio, they removed the bio and kept the tagline. Anything we write on our tagline in IMVU desktop Next, beta or mobile, It appear in our Classic client tagline not bio.
It starting to feel we classic users live on different world now compare to desktop next, beta and mobile because their use hashtags. We can’t see hashtags in the Classic client to know a user’s interests. That’s why a bio is still necessary. it gives context and identity beyond just a tagline and hashtags like a whole picture and what users is really all about. They shouldn't remove the hashtag, add the bio back into the desktop next, mobile and beta for alignment with the classic client bio. It's looks really messy.
In the Classic Client Affinity section, we had like Here For, Relationship Status, Sexual Orientation, Looking For, and Language. It got removed classic users are left with " Here for " and " Relationship status."
Mobile users always leave their bio blanks especially the new ones. I wouldn't add either without reading the profile unless spoken to that person.

I suppose they’ll end up removing everything we don’t use in IMVU. Genders Identification shouldn’t be removed Male and female that's basic necessity.
Staff are removing stuff through statistics data, focusing only on what features are being used by us instead of putting themselves in our shoes They’ll only reinstate those features if all of us speak up and share our point of view.
I love Classic because you get a basic idea of the person you’re interacting with, who they are, what they’re about. Unlike Beta, IMVU Next Desktop, and mobile, where profiles feel blank like the walking dead.
We did have sexual orientation options like Lesbian, Gay, bisexual, pansexual, Queer, and straight on Classic client. They should reinstate it back again.

Honestly, I see more and more people not showing their gender on their profile these days, so soon they'll remove gender options? I noticed also on mobile,NEXT and Beta, you can't see people's interests on their profiles. So now, if I get a friend request from someone and check their profile, it's basically blank. I started ignoring those requests because idk what kind of person they are. Profile cards should give us at least a basic idea of the kind of people we are interacting with.

IMVU removed the sexual orientation option from profiles around 2018 because their data showed not many people were using it. People should be able to show who they are without squeezing it into a tiny bio. On Next desktop, the character limit makes it impossible to express yourself fully, while Classic has enough space.
