I would like to share a serious proposal for the future of IMVU — a modern rebuild or premium version of the platform in Unreal Engine 5.
IMVU already has a strong community, but I truly believe the platform could become something much bigger, more immersive, and more attractive for both old and new users if it was visually and technically refreshed. A version built with UE5 could transform the experience into something far more realistic, modern, and emotionally engaging. It would not just be an update — it would be a major evolution of the IMVU brand.
Such a project could include:
more realistic avatars and animations,
modern 3D rooms and social spaces,
a premium shop experience,
improved fashion, furniture, and creator tools,
a stronger mobile/desktop visual identity,
and a world that feels truly alive and next-generation.
I also believe this would be especially exciting for many Polish players and creators, as well as the wider international community. A major visual and technical upgrade like this would make many users feel proud to be part of IMVU and could attract a completely new generation of players.
This kind of change would show that IMVU is not only keeping up with modern standards, but leading the way in social virtual worlds. If done carefully, it could preserve the heart of IMVU while giving it a bold, premium, and realistic future.
Fancy presentation, but It benefit IMVU, Beta, mobile desktop next rather than a classic user. It feels like one-sided deal.
Users don’t want fancy Unreal Engine visuals or photorealistic avatars. They’ll get bored of that eventually. What they truly want is a supportive, warm, and kind community, along with a good IMVU experience that keeps them engaged with fun activities like Walk Off or mini‑games. Not everyone is into dress‑up, many users have different interests.
I agree that the Greeter program needs a revamp. Greeters should be able to earn badges for genuine friendliness making newcomers feel at home, encouraging connections, showing positivity, and keeping healthy boundaries, since not every new user will be nice. That way, new users can discover what IMVU is truly about the community, and fun things to do. Greeter badges should reward kindness and support, shaping newcomers first impression of IMVU as welcoming and safe. The game is getting cold. It needs warmth in the air, a spark of kindness and community to bring it back to life.
No Need to Rebuild: Rebuilding IMVU in Unreal Engine 5 makes no sense because IMVU has already spent money on their current Desktop and mobile beta apps at least the game is user friendly.
Keep Avatars Simple: Avatars do not need to look photorealistic like they came out of an AI factory.
Add Cinematic and gaming graphics style Filters: IMVU should give Classic users filters and editing tools to create gaming-style and cinematic graphics for taking quick photos or videos without needing to enter a chatroom.
Deeper Customization: IMVU should offer better tools to modify and customize the avatar's head and body details. So users don’t look like clones.
Music for Classic: IMVU needs to find a vendor who can bring music back to Classic users. Some prefer radio, while other buy from shop or both or all. Classic users like to have a lot options to do things.
Better Privacy and Security: (Important) The platform needs stronger security to protect users and their data from unauthorized websites that invade privacy. Safety and protection are vital on any platform, and it’s IMVU’s responsibility to provide them. They must improve their security system and also give users tools to defend themselves against unpleasant behaviour. Users don’t care if IMVU is built on Unreal Engine 5 or has photorealistic graphics. they’ll leave for another platform if they don’t feel safe. Instead of asking users to rebuild the entire platform, You should have created a proposal on how to stop unauthorized websites while improving security. Right now, these issues are killing creativity and turning chatrooms into ghost towns.

Hello IMVU Team,

IMVU Has Zero Need For Unreal 5 Engine...
Unreal 5 Makes Everything Universally Worked Globally Accross Many Different Platforms, Problem Is??
IMVU Already Works That Way...
Soooo, Going Unreal 5, Where You Have To Rebuild Everything Ground Up??
Just Would Cost Too Much, & Have Such Zero Returns, It Would Actually Be Beneficial To Disagree With Unreal 5 Here...
PS:
IMVU Already Runs On More Platforms Then Unreal 5 Does, Soooo, They Would Be Doing Harm To Themselves By Ditching Their Own Platform For Unreal 5...
Then There Is The Fact, Unreal 5 Is Harmful From The Start, & On Top Of That?? IMVU Doesn't Have The Ability To Sustain A Blow / Backlash Such As From Unreal 5 If Anyone Would Actually Want To Attack Them For Using It...
Asking IMVU To Use Unreal 5 Engine, Is Like Asking IMVU If They Want A Coffin To Be Buried In, ~____~

I have to disagree with this idea 100% and here are my reasons.
I think one of the greatest things that IMVU has going for it in its current state is that it can run on virtually any kind of machine. It's very PC friendly. UE5 is not a very PC friendly engine on lower end makes and models and what was once a easily accessible platform now almost requires a user to get a gaming machine to have that same experience.
Then for the creators. With the current catalog vs. UE5 catalog. It's not a friendly experience if creators have to learn a whole new style to compete with the current market. It would be like hand drawn vs computer generated graphics. That doesn't sound very friendly to the users or the creators.
With IMVU working on their mobile platform. Sure UE5 can work on a mobile device. If that device is higher end or a user must have a way to strip off features so their phone can use the platform. This is where things like Unity are a much better choice.
I don't think that going with realistic graphics is going to attract a new generation of users. At the end of the day, a user is going to come and stay because of the overall experience, not if their avatar looks photorealistic.

Why would anyone whom already owns an AP give it up just to pay a monthly subscription fee of $ 9.99 for an AP membership?
